Hot and Cold of Spring
We are nearly halfway through Spring here in Australia, and a few days ago, I would have said that the weather was beginning to warm up.
Hot Days
Back then, the temperature had risen somewhat, to the point where insects were out in full force. My mini garden is full of fungus gnats and at some point I am going to have to just start again with a different soil, and with a neem oil soil drench before I begin.
On a positive note, one of my tomatoes is turning from green to yellow-ish, and the plant is struggling with the weight. I'm propping it up best I can under the circumstances.
I went to the Waterloo Chicken Shop and ordered minimum chips, 3 dim sims and a Chiko Roll and sat down outside at one of their tables to eat it.
After I unwrapped my dinner, I saw a beetle land on the tail edge of the paper and I brushed it away onto the ground and it's little babies were left, they got brushed off as well.
My meal remained safe though.
The fluorescent lights were attracting all sorts of insects, as the sun started to set.
I sat watching them fly into the lights, drop and bounce off of the white tiles on the ground as I ate. I even saw a something that could on describe as a flying earwig. I will need to Google that at some point.
Cold Days
Today though it's both windy and rainy, so much so that trees were dropping branches that took out powerlines which caused a power outage in my area for several hours.
It's an important lesson to make sure your powerbanks are regularly changed just in case of events like this.
Mine were all flat, my phone went flat and I ended up sitting in the dark listening to podcasts on my iPad.
Before it went flat, I had enough power in my phone to check the outage map and saw that power was still available and decided to go to the nearest KFC restaurant because I knew they had working USB recharge points.
The weirdest aspect of a power outage at night is that there are no traffic lights and watching drivers compensate, that and the idea that the power won't return and how much we depend on it.
Before it went flat, I had enough power in my phone to check the outage map and saw that power was still available and decided to go to the nearest KFC restaurant because I knew they had working USB recharge points.
I bought a large coleslaw for the next day as I was fasting for a blood test the next day. I celebrated the use of my phone again with a selfie. I am not narcissistic, I assure you. There was a tine in my life when I was denied the right to even take a selfie.
On returning home, I found my electricity switched back on and then the slow, infuriating realisation that the photoshop content I was working on was both unsaved and gone forever when the power went out.
It wasn't that important, just some jokes for Facebook.
No images I post here are photoshopped (resized, and occasionally adjusted for brightness, etc. but the content is authentic where possible).
Right now it's overcast, but warm. Right in the middle of hot and cold, like Spring should be.
Thank you for reading.
