Introduction
Not much happened over the weekend. It was pretty chill and watched some MSI league of legends. As usual, I will be sharing my battle mage secrets for Monday. The theme for this week is Heavy Hitters. For this ruleset, everyone has the knockout ability. This is not a very popular ability so if you didn't know it gives double damage against stunned units.
My Strategy & Tips for Heavy Hitters
Honestly, I think it's very situational where you actually want to use units with stun to get double the damage from the heavy hitters. I tried playing all day and both battles I had this ruleset and tried to use a stun I lost. It's very niche but there are cases where it was actually good which was shown in one of my friend, ak08's, post if you've seen it. He shared a great battle with Hill Grunt setting up his Regal Peryton to do double the damage.
My tip would be to see if it's viable to play a stun unit. There's actually not many super meta stun units. Most of the stun units are quite niche and dependent on the ruleset. One of the popular stun plays are with Jacek and lava launcher and djinn inferni. That double stun combo is great because right off the bat it can potentially not let two of the opponent's units attack. With the heavy hit, it can also give a chance to do double the damage.
I think one strategy could be using Akane. I personally haven't tried it but if you can stun with ambush and go first the next round, you would be able to set up a double the damage attack and probably knockout one of the opponent's units on the first round or even before first round actually starts.
Biggest takeaway would be to not force the stun units. Just play what is strong without heavy hitters being available.
The Battle
The battle link can be found here. I had this battle on my scholar account. This battle was one of the battles I mentioned I played all day. It was a 35 mana ruleset with aim true, explosive weaponry and heavy hitters. Only the Earth and Death units were usable.
Discussing My Lineup
Summoner , Thaddius Brood - I chose Thaddius to counter Magic. I was thinking the opponent would play Immortalis or Obsidian but we can see that I guessed wrong.
First Position, Cursed Windeku - Cursed Windeku was a great tank in this battle. It's super efficient with the mana cost and I love the debuff with the slow.
Second Position, Djinn Muirat - I chose Djinn Muirat to be one of my DPS. It was also in the second position for reflecting magic blast damage.
Third Position, Revealer - This card was my stun unit. It's main purpose was to get the stun off so I could whack for double the damage.
Fourth Position, Corpose Fiend - Corpse Fiend was fodder but also was there to help reduce magic with the silence.
Fifth Position, Runi - I chose Runi for the reflection shield. It can protect the backside from getting blasted by sneak units.
Last Position, Silent Shavi - Silent Shavi was meant to attack the enemy backline. A great sneak card with good damage and speed. It was meant to be my main DPS.
Analysis of The Battle
The opponent was a fellow scholar who goes by Saydie. I made a huge blunder this battle. It was super crucial to have speed this battle which I didn't factor in. For some reason, I had a bad read on thinking my opponent would play magic units. Because one of the rulesets was true aim, it's ideal to have the speed to attack first. My opponent played well and I think he played a great team. Most of my units were just way too slow and some of my key units died without even getting a chance to attack.
I kind of tunnel visioned on trying to get a stun in to showcase a crazy good battle with heavy hitters but ended up failing. If you want to see another battle where I failed today, you can check the other one here.
Thank You
If you made it here, thank you so much for reading all the way to the end. I appreciate the support and I hope you learned something new! I'm ok sharing losses as well. It's part of the learning process. Moral of the story do not tunnel vision in for stun units during heavy hitters. It may not be the best play.
