You may have heard the phrase, money is what makes the world go round. Money is what drives most of our world and we need it to buy our basic needs such as food, water and shelter. Hypothetically, if we were presented a million dollars in exchange for something that we had to do, where would our limit be. This is where we need to draw the line. If I was in that situation, I would never accept a million dollars if I had to do anything that goes past my line of where I felt I can do something without feeling regretful, ashamed of etc.
I would never intentionally inflict pain on another person whether it be physically, verbally or even emotionally. As someone that has been bullied in the past, I couldn't bring myself to do these kinds of things to somebody else. In the past, I was super depressed and had thoughts of ending my life but I never did it because I didn't have the guts. I would never want to be the reason someone gets put into that same situation I had in the past. In addition to that, I'm a big advocator of treating others how you want to be treated. I wouldn't want someone to hurt me so how can I hurt others. It just won't happen for me even if I was given billions of dollars.
I would never do anything super illegal. I say super illegal because it depends on the severity of the case. If it's just smoking in a no smoking zone, I would just do it and risk getting the fine because that one million dollars can easily pay off the fine. This doesn't go past my line and I could accept doing something minor like that even though I personally don't like smoking. On the other hand, I wouldn't murder anybody or try to smuggle drugs. Just for your information, if you are caught with non-medical drugs, you could face the death penalty in my country; for those that don't know, I'm from Malaysia. I also wouldn't drive intoxicated because that could kill me or another person and that would be past my line. I could go on and on but I feel these examples are good enough for you to know where my line is in terms of doing something illegal.
I would never give up on loved ones. I could have all the money in the world but my life would be sad if I didn't have any family or friends. Based on this, you can conclude that I value family and friends over money. You can always earn money but you can't just get a new family. As for friends, you might say that those may be temporary or come and go. For me, this is different because I'm not the type that has a lot of friends. If I have friends, they are the really good kind of friends. It's the type of friends that would do a favor for you without asking too much questions or making excuses.
In conclusion, I would never take up a million dollars if I had to hurt somebody, do something illegal or give up on my loved ones. There's probably more things I would never do but I couldn't think of anything else at the moment. What about you? Where is your line and what would you never do? Leave it down in the comments below.
