My friend, , is so totally sweet! She tag me to answer the question: what the reason was for the first time you bought silver or gold.
Well, one Sunday, I was looking for a good recipe for stacked potato au gratin on YouTube. I wanted to have it as one of the appetizers at my next party. While perusing the menu bar, there were a couple videos about "Stacking Silver". I didn't know what that meant, so I clicked on one of them.
It was a video by a man whose username is Silverfish VT. He was saying that we all have visions in our heads of where we are supposed to be. A lot of us put the cart ahead of the horse, and we don't put the work in. We act rich, but we're not, and that puts us in financial trouble. We create a hole that we can't dig out of! Spending money that we don't have. We are putting ourselves in a no-win situation when you have dug yourself into a deep hole.
I had to stop the video for a while. It made me think! And he had one silver up on the screen the entire time. The video's main message is to not let your sense of self-worth influence your financial situation. Decide what it is that you want. And that is a hard question: what do I want? So, work it out! and create a plan to get there. And to not expect perfection, because happiness is a state, not an event. It is a process. It is an undertaking. It is a journey.
To make a long story short, in the succeeding 4 weeks, I binged on stacking videos. And each video I completed convinced me of the merits of stacking gold and silver.
There was an interesting detail in two of the videos I watched. Both of the videos said that one should always pay for purchases of gold and silver in cash. And I believed them. So I waited... patiently. I continued to watch videos until I had almost all my revolving debt paid off. With very little left in debt, I couldn't wait any longer.
I bought my first American Silver Eagle and my first Peace Dollar in October 2015. Once I paid off all of my revolving debt, three months later, in January 2016, I got my first gold coin.
Every month since I purchased my first silver coin, I have saved a part of my money in silver and gold... a little at a time, never in a hurry, and always only what I can afford.
Then, a year later, my first full stack video.
I've learned that you can YOU CAN GET THERE! However, it needs to begin somewhere, and that someplace is with you. No one else is able to help you with this. You are going to have to start this journey on your own.
And, by the way, I am not looking for self-emulation in the comments. I know and understand that some of you are hurting and suffering. With life setting the pace, it is as though you have no choice but to stay put and let everything happen to you. I am just letting you know that I've been there myself, and that might serve as encouragement to some. I have regained perspective in my life by taking charge of my finances in the manner that I do.
What I've discovered is that I can make things better for myself if I can control at least one thing, and that's how I spend my money. And it's incredible how many dominoes fall and fit together like a puzzle when they do.
And here I am. I still stacking gold and silver. And I am grateful for the sincere support of true friends in the gold and silver stacking community, especially the #silvergoldstackers of Hive.
