Hello dear friends,
In previous posts, I introduced you to some places that I find very interesting, small hamlets, small localities, but today I want to introduce you to their municipality, namely Licciana Nardi, still in the province of Massa Carrara.
Naturally, I had the opportunity to visit this place because it is located right near the other places I have introduced you to in previous posts, and anyway, I found it interesting as a village and also very beautiful. We're still talking about a twelfth-century village, where the material used for its construction is sandstone, and you can already tell from the first photo I shared that the numerous portals of the village were indeed built using this material found in nearby quarries.
This picturesque village is nestled among the gentle hills of Lunigiana, practically between the Apuan Alps and the Tyrrhenian Sea, and yet it's not such a small municipality because it has a considerable 3000 inhabitants, which for localities in this area is quite a lot.
Unfortunately, I toured this place very quickly, during my lunch break, and indeed I am not very satisfied with the photos I took because I took them in a hurry.
I must say that the thing that impressed me the most about this place is that the streets are really narrow, and fortunately, in these areas where these narrow streets are found, cars practically cannot circulate, because I can only imagine that perhaps some courier delivering a package might get stuck with their van.
Indeed, one thing I must tell you the truth about that I like about these places is that since these streets are so narrow, they are just pedestrian or bicycle-friendly, so traffic stays away from these places, and that's a good thing.
I must say that Licciana Nardi is a beautiful place with beautiful architectural features, but this place manages to combine these examples of art with the beautiful natural landscape in which this municipality is immersed. In fact, it is surrounded all around by mountains with centuries-old chestnut groves.
Unfortunately, I was not able to visit the church because I was in a hurry and had only a few minutes available, but I must say that taking a stroll through the streets of this place was a breath of fresh air for my mind.
But then I must say that in Tuscany, every person you meet is always so kind. You might not find a lot of them in these places, but the ones you do find are very helpful and sometimes even offer you a drink, which says a lot about Tuscan hospitality.
