With the arrival of Riftwatchers, several cards arrived in Splinterlands and that means many new combinations to test in battles. For this post I will talk about one in particular that despite having a high mana cost is an excellent choice to have by your side because in addition to having a powerful attack and great defense it also has very useful abilities to have.
The card in this post is Corsair Bosun and maybe you don't know him yet since he's not so common to find in battles and also because his mana cost is high, but don't worry because in this post I'll explain about it this card.
Who is Corsair Bosun?
Corsair Bosun is a rare card from the Riftwatchers edition and it belongs to the life deck, so if you want to use it in your battles you will have to choose the life deck, the dragon deck with the life deck or the neutral deck with the life deck.
To find your general information is quite simple and you will only need to go to the Marketplace in Splinterlands and filter the cards by: Edition - Riftwatchers / Rarity - Rare / Element - Life / Role - Monsters. After doing this, 5 options will appear for you to look at: Cards, For Sale, For Rent, Stats and Lore.
CARDS
In the Cards part you will see the Corsair Bosun cards that you have, either bought or rented. You will also be able to perform actions such as increasing the card's level, selling, renting and transferring it to other players.
For Sale
In the For Sale part, Corsair Bosun cards will appear to be bought, you will only need to select which card you want to buy and pay in DEC or Credits.
For Rent
In the For Rent part, Corsair Bosun cards will appear to be rented, you will only need to select which card you want to buy and pay in DEC or Credits.
STATS
In the Stats part, general information about the card will appear, such as mana cost, attack, speed, life, shield and abilities. This is the main part you need to see to understand how the card works and to start building your strategy when using it.
In the case of Corsair Bosun he is a card with a high mana cost and that means that you will have difficulties to select him when the battle has little mana available, so generally you will use him in high mana battles.
In the image above you can get an overview of the card and you can soon see that the mana spent on it will be very well used because its attack is very high, it has a good amount of life and also a good amount of shield that it will be very useful against melee and ranged attacks. On the other hand, his speed isn't very high so he probably won't be one of the first cards to attack in battle.
Besides having a good attack and a good defense it also has 3 abilities which are Reach, Reflection Shield and Cleanse. Each one of them has different uses and I'll explain how they work so you don't have any doubts when using the Corsair Bosun in your battles.
Enable Level 1 (Reach)
The ability Reach allows Corsair Bosun to attack from second position. Melee cards have attack restrictions and can only attack in the first position, the exceptions are battle rules that allow them to attack in any position or abilities such as Sneak, Reach and Opportunity.
Enable Level 1 (Reflection Shield)
The ability Reflection Shield makes Corsair Bosun immune to damage from Blast, Thorns, Return Fire, and Magic Reflect. This ability is very useful as it is very annoying to take damage from these abilities, especially from blast when your opponent has powerful cards.
Enable Level 5 (Cleanse)
The ability Cleanse makes Corsair Bosun clean all the negative effects of the allied card that is in the first position and this is another very useful ability that will help the tank card last longer in battle.
As you can see, in addition to a good attack and a good defense, its abilities are also very useful and will help you a lot, especially if your opponent has the summoner Yodin since the Blast ability is very difficult to beat, but with the help from Reflection Shield won't be a big problem.
The last part is the Lore and I'll leave it at the end of the post in case you're curious to read it.
In addition to buying or renting the Corsair Bosun, there is also a third option for you to have him in your battles and that option is to buy Riftwatchers packs and try your luck opening them. Each pack costs 5$ in SPS + 1 Voucher and has 5 random cards, at least one of which will be rare or higher rarity and as the Corsair Bosun is a rare card then your chances of getting it are not low but of course opening the packs you'll probably want to get a legendary card or a Corsair Bosun Gold Foil.
But if the value is too high then you can look for the pack in the Hive Engine and buy for a lower price, but remembering that if you buy through the Hive Engine you will not be eligible to participate in Riftwatchers airdrops.
That was my post about the Corsair Bosun card, if you want you can also look and participate in my daily giveaway that can be found on my blog. Bye!
LORE
While many call him a vigilante, Harlan Lowcastle prefers “Hero of the People.” Growing up in a large city, Harlan saw a great deal of suffering as the powers that be looked on with indifference or, even worse, used it to their advantage. Despite his upbringing in a wealthy family of the upper class, he left his life behind. His parents disowned him, but he didn’t care. There were bigger problems in the world.
After that, Harlan lived on the streets of the inner city, staying on the move and helping those in need, providing food, medical supplies, and access to other subsistence they required to survive. When he couldn’t get it legally, he had no qualms about using other means. To Harlan, the wealthy were nothing but gluttons and abusers who ignored the misery of others while hording their own riches and living a life of excess.
His initial jobs began small, sneaking into estates and taking what he needed. As he got more confident, his plans grew more daring and elaborate. He amassed a small following of rebellious men and women who, fed up with the apathy of the gentry, helped him carry out his heists. They often robbed the rich to give to the poor. Harlan’s favorite schemes, however, involved uncovering the corruption of the affluent and making it public, forcing them to be held accountable. As Harlan grew more successful and his influence spread, he attracted some powerful enemies. Undeterred, he continued to fight for a better life for others.
All his efforts, however, were undone when the Chaos Legion invaded the Splinterlands.
Harlan went to ground, doing what he could to save as many people as possible from the initial attack. The world changed forever, but all hope was not lost. Word of the Riftwatchers spread. Harlan sought them out. He now works with them, plotting insurgent attacks, undermining the Chaos Legion, and hoping to one day free the Splinterlands of their tyranny.
