Welcome to my blog, where I talk about the games I play, my experience while playing them, and anything game-related.
Chess 960 has always been my weakness, and it was no surprise for me today. As I anticipated, I played woefully, and I am not shocked because I saw it coming. The randomness of the pieces drives my head nuts, and when I lose a game, it gets worse for me in the next game. I lost a ton of games in this round of the Friday Hivechess Tournament. I finished in 17th place, and that should tell you how bad it was for me today. Well, we move on.
Even games I was winning, I still lost, and the worst was the one against Rosmarly, where I had a queen and still lost the game. In other games, I berserk, and I ran out of time before I could checkmate. It is tough to berserk in a 3+2 timing, a risky one.
This was the first game against Rosmarly, and it was bloody right from the beginning. She never gave me the chance to develop my dark square bishop. It was horrible as she kept on adding more and more pieces to her attack, until I finally cracked and fell into her mating attack. My king was crushed, and I could not do anything about it.

I was up a piece in this game, and yet I lost. My opponent did a good job of draining my time with strong and active moves. The more I played, the more his time was added, and mine was running. You cannot defeat the added time. I tried and tried, but ended up dropping whatever piece I was working on when the time trouble came knocking.

For this game, it was worse since I gave up a piece early on in the position. Not any piece but the rook. Quickly, when I did not pay attention to what my opponent was playing, and the worst part I could not defend well, castle, or put up a fight at all. All bad after the rook fell. At this point, I had already given up on the tournament in general. I guess after this game, I did not bother to play anymore, coupled with it were only 3 minutes and 27 seconds left to the end of the tournament.
