Splinterlands Fan Art Week 254 - Alric Stormbringer!
Good day, everyone! Welcome back to my fan art of one of Splinterlands card. For this fan art, I drew Alric Stormbringer, a water summoner. Based on its lore, "Alric’s gift is not so much bringing the storm, but channeling it.", so for this fan art, I imagined Alric Stormbringer displaying his power by controlling the storm in the sea.
Here is the card reference image of Alric Stormbringer in Splinterlands.
The oldest ΛZMΛRÉan Summoner, Alric Stormbringer, founded the modern arts of Chaos Magic. He has many pupils from around the Splinterlands. Alric’s gift is not so much bringing the storm, but channeling it. He has lived for hundreds of years, and some stories claim he was alive before the Splintering.
This fan art was done when Alric Stormbringer was practicing his chaos magic in the sea. He looked at the dark night sky. There were few stars to be seen, and dark clouds started to gather. He walked to the top of a hill. He raised his wand and started chanting. It soon started to rain, and lightning can be faintly seen. His wand glowed, radiating a bluish light out of it. His wand began to glow brighter, still radiating. Suddenly, a burst of sound broke out of the sky. Thunderstorms can be heard from afar. Lightning started to show up. And then his wand glowed very brightly with a high-pitched sound. The lightning started to hit the water surrounding the hill where Alric Stormbringer stood. With a single wave from his wand, the lightnings follow through as if they were part of his wand. It lasted for a few seconds, then for a few minutes. He then lowered his wand. The lightning and thunderstorms stopped, and his students left with amazement on their faces.
Moving on, I started with a sketch using a reference. (link at the bottom). After I got his pose, I traced the sketch and applied two layers of line art, one with a solid line and one with a blurred line. I also thickened the outer lines and thinned some inner lines. After that, I began applying the flat colors. I used blue, purple, brown, and white, mostly from the original character. I then applied shadows and highlights to him. For the background, I made him stand on a rock and put some cracks on it to add details. I used a hue of blue for the dark night sky and placed some stars. I then added lightning by using a blue color with a glow layer on top of it. I also added blurred lightning at the far back and one at the front. The sea was a combination of blue and black, and for the final step, I added a radiating light coming out of the wand and some grass on the rock to add more details.
