Hey there! Have you heard of the Zealy Contest? I guess you would, and if not, then you must probably be living in a cave.
Oh, sorry about that! If it was hash, I was joking! The Zealy contest is bubbling around Hive and is the main talk at the moment. Almost everyone I know is in the contest, and if you want to know what the contest is about, then here it is.
The main aim of the Zealy contest, which is being coordinated by Leofinance, is to onboard new users to Hive, and the goal for this month is to onboard 450 new users, which is massive and yes, possible. How do they plan on doing it, That is where the zeal contest comes in.
The contest is run on Zealy, where you are given daily tasks to complete and are rewarded XP for completing these tasks. The fun thing about it is that there is a prize pool for people who participate in these tasks.
The Prize pool is 5000 HBD, and here is how it would be distributed:
The top 10% of total participants would split a sum of 2500 HBD, and the remaining 11β30% would split the remaining Half. For a clearer description, if we have 1000 Hivers on the leaderboard, then the top 10% would get 25 HBD each, while the remaining 11 to 30% would share $12.5 each.
So going down the leaderboard, there are just about 459 people on the leaderboard, so it is not too late to join.
Right now, I am in the 75th position on the leaderboard, so you are not left out.
My Thoughts and Observations.
I see that the tasks given are used to encourage people to be active on leothreads and also to promote engagement between people on the chain; this is very nice, but I am yet to see a task that actually contributes to bringing new individuals into the chain.
I think it would be a good idea to give rewards to people who promote Hive to others and also to those who successfully convince others to sign up on Hive. Although there can be a twist to doing this because we can end up finding people who would create another account just to meet the target of bringing more people to Hive, which would not be healthy for the system,
But if we can find a way to record genuine sign-ups and do proper promotion of these individuals, then these individuals would not just get into Hive and get lost trying to understand how Hive functions. I know it is very easy to get lost in here because the way Hive operates is a little bit more difficult to understand than the normal Web2 platforms.
Right now, I am very eager to see how we can make 450 new people on Hive possible. I sure hope there is a plan made to not just bring them on Hive but to also make them understand and stay for the long run. As they say, we should not just chase quantity but keep quality in mind.
