Things have been a little less chaotic for the $HIVE price (vote it up!) this week. It is still a bargain, but with so much going on that could soon change.

This month marks ten years since this blockchain kicked off and six years since it was forked to create Hive. If you do not know the history then you should read this. So much has happened in that time, but lots of people have stuck with it through the highs and lows. I will never say that Hive is perfect, but it offers a real alternative to corporate social media.

There is an interesting discussion posted by Hive account@starkerz where developers from some of the major Hive projects talked about the costs involved and being more public about them. I think this was triggered by a post from Hive account@beggars. Since then Hive account@ecency have put up their numbers and Hive account@keychain have also posted. When it comes to the DHF (Decentralised Hive Fund) people want to know where the money goes. Some projects have reduced what they take from it. Other projects do not use it at all. In that discussion there was some talk about efficiencies from using AI tools, but you still need humans to be involved.

• One of the projects not taking from the DHF is Hive account@sportsblock from Hive account@blanchy. He has a Premier League prediction game where you could win a nice prize with no entry fee.
• We have some developers working on Hive who are really productive. Hive account@sagarkothari88 is one of those and he has produced hSnaps that provides another way to do short-form on Hive.
• Hive account@coldbeetrootsoup have also been busy producing games. Even if people are not into blogging they can be part of Hive via all the games we now have.
• As I mentioned Hive will be six soon and Hive account@hivecreators have a contest for posts about your experiences here.
• Hive account@chris-uk has been here since the days before Hive and is setting some life goals after some tough times. I got to meet him in person recently.
• I have tried to support art on Hive and one of our dedicated artists is Hive account@joechiappetta who produces fun works that are often about the world of blockchain.
• Another long-standing Hiver is Hive account@jongolson who is finding plenty to enjoy.
• One of my favourite Hive artists is Hive account@paolobeneforti and he has marked eleven years since we lost Sir Terry Pratchett with a portrait. You can buy his works for crypto.

As I am in such a positive frame of mind I will skip The Dog House this week. Of course there are always scams and negativity around so stay safe and do what is fun for you.

I missed the very start of this blockchain, but I will reach ten years in August. It was never just about rewards for me. I have been into open platforms for much longer and have had some bad experiences with the corporate ones. I think we need places where people have more freedom. How they use that freedom is up to them, but I hope it can be a good experience.
