The News
It has been an interesting week for $HIVE. It is pretty much level with the 'blue coin', but they have volume that exceeds their market cap. I am really not sure what is going on there, but I have heard nothing about any developments by them. As far as I am concerned it is a compromised platform where a few people get most of the rewards whilst Hive is a thriving ecosystem with lots of cool content that can get decent rewards. Of course the price could be much better and that is always up to the whims of the market, but each of us can be part of the marketing team by talking about it to friends and followers.
are always working on new features. They are involved in an initiative to simplify online payments. I do not fully grasp the details, but $HBD is an ideal currency for this as it is (relatively) stable whilst transfers and free and fast.
I have not been keeping up with lately, but I see they are doing things with 'AI'. This can be a controversial topic. I am not against using software tools to make us more efficient, but the human element is central to Hive. It is supposed to be 'proof of brain'. The internet is filling up with generated content that has little real value. There are issues with exploiting the works of humans and also around energy usage. We have to decide what future we really want and that is not just about making some companies richer.
Friday Follows
- I used to post more about my little hobby of collecting guitar picks. I just do it for fun, but some people pay serious money for them. I saw that
has quite a collection and is looking for help on identifying where some of them came from. This is a niche interest, but there will be a lot of collectors around the world and it would be cool to bring more of them to Hive.
has been busy with
, but found time to create a website builder. This is free to use and comes with some image storage. There are templates for various types of site.
- We do need more tutorials an how Hive works. I saw this one by
of the
community. I wonder if AI tools were used, but it looks like it took some work to put together.
- A few weeks back
put out the HiveWord puzzle and it is already topping the Snaps tags. Be sure to say thanks to him.
- The Hive Thrive team, including
, have been running live interviews with various people from the Hive community. You can join those on Discord to post questions and chat with Hivers. The latest subject was
who has been here a long time writing about security issues. He is well worth a follow.
Hivers in Meatspace
Hive Open Days is coming up next month in Alicante, Spain. I cannot be there, but it looks like fun.
I will always recommend that people meet up with other Hivers if they can. It does not have to be anything fancy. Just set a time and place for people to get together. The conversations are bound to be interesting.
The End
I mentioned before that I had seen some people say they were leaving Hive. One of those is who has posted with their reasons. Their witness will go too, so be sure to update your votes. We each have our own priorities and being online can be stressful for some. We should do what we can to make it a good experience for everyone.
I think that Hive is very much a case of getting out what you put in. If you are good to others then it pays back in engagement and maybe rewards too. That is why I tend to avoid negativity. I am not in denial about the issues Hive has, but I think that I can contribute more on the positive side. In any case I have little influence on what others do. I do okay here, but it is not exactly making me rich. I enjoy the content and interaction plus I have a strong interest in alternatives to corporate social media. I want to see Hive succeed for the benefit of all.
Enjoy your weekend and Hive five!
