One of my drawers was damaged, and my stored items were all over the place. This time, I'm not going to show you a craft per se, but I will show you how to repair and organize a space using recycled materials. This will allow us to make the most of the resources that, I'm sure, we all have on hand, especially those of us who enjoy making crafts.

Let me tell you that one of the things that defines me is my tendency to repair or find solutions to problems, especially when it comes to my personal space. I've always wanted an environment that suits my needs, as I spend a lot of time crafting, drawing, and creating jewelry. For me, space and order are key. One of the solutions I've found to organize my materials is using cardboard boxes. I like to draw inspiration from ideas from other projects, as I believe that if something works well in one context, it can also be useful in another. Now, to cut a long story short, I'm going to show you my options. I hope they serve as an example.
Para comenzar, voy a reparar el cajón de la gaveta, que está hecho de un material llamado cartón piedra. Este material es similar al cartón, pero es bastante delicado y poco resistente. To begin, I'm going to repair the drawer, which is made of a material called papier-mâché. This material is similar to cardboard, but it's quite delicate and not very durable. The drawer is cracked on the sides and bottom. The first thing I'll do is sand the area where it came loose, making sure it's free of any other products to facilitate adhesion. Then, I'll apply white glue or wood glue to the affected area. I'll apply a lot of pressure and hold the drawer down for a while, until I see it bond with the glue. To give the drawer a little more strength, I'll also place newspaper all over the bottom, especially around the edges. I'll apply enough glue and let it dry well. I hope this technique works, as I figured that if gluing newspaper is useful for many crafts, using white glue and then adding another layer of white glue makes it a more durable technique.
Ahora, para organizar los objetos que tenía en el cajón, voy a utilizar unas cajas que anteriormente estaban dentro de él. Esta vez, las voy a decorar con retazos de tela. También aprovecharé para seleccionar lo que realmente me será útil y deshacerme de lo que ya no sirve. He decidido decorar las cajas con tela de flores rosas y tela rosada, para darles un toque más acorde a mi estilo. Para esto, solo utilicé silicón líquido y la tela.
Now, to organize the items I had in the drawer, I'm going to use some boxes that were previously inside it. This time, I'm going to decorate them with fabric scraps. I'll also take the opportunity to select what will really be useful and get rid of what I no longer need. I decided to decorate the boxes with pink floral fabric and pink fabric, to give them a touch more in line with my style. For this, I only used liquid silicone and the fabric.
Al concluir este proyecto, me siento satisfecha con todo lo que he logrado. Empecé reparando el cajón de cartón piedra, lijando las áreas dañadas y aplicando pegamento para asegurar que todo se mantuviera en su lugar. Upon completing this project, I feel satisfied with everything I've accomplished. I started by repairing the cardboard box, sanding the damaged areas and applying glue to ensure everything stayed in place. Then, I reinforced the base with newspaper, a technique I know can provide strength and durability. Once the box was finished, I moved on to organizing the items that had previously been inside. I used boxes I already had, but I gave them a new decorative touch with scraps of pink floral fabric and pink fabric, which not only makes them more attractive but also reflects my personal style. Using liquid silicone, I managed to transform these boxes into a functional and aesthetic item. This whole process has not only allowed me to repair and organize, but has also been a way to express my creativity and make my space more welcoming and organized. I'm excited to see how, with these changes, I can enjoy my crafts and projects even more. Every corner now reflects my style and effort, and that makes it all worth it.
