Hello, DIYHub friends! I hope you're all well on this beautiful day, enjoying the radiant sunshine that invites us to be creative. Today I want to share with you a craft that has me very excited: we're going to make a sunflower-shaped pincushion! The idea of creating a pincushion is perfect for those of us who sew. Not only is it a practical object that will help us keep our needles and pins organized, but it will also be a beautiful decoration that will add a special touch to our workspace. I invite you to join me in this fun craft.
For this project, I'll be using fabric scraps I have on hand. Among those scraps, I'll include rif, microdurano, and satin, choosing colors that resemble those of the sunflower, or close to it. For the center, I'll opt for black rif fabric, while I'll use yellow microdurano for the petals and green satin for the leaves. What I love about this craft is that it's completely handmade, which makes it easy to create. It's an easy craft that anyone can do, and I'm sure they'll enjoy every step of the process. A special touch I have in mind is placing half of an anime sphere in the center of the flower.

Paso nro 1
Paso nro 1
I started by cutting the black fabric into a circle that would fit the sphere perfectly. Then, I hand-stitched the entire edge of the fabric, ensuring the seam was firm and even. This step is crucial, as it will give a clean and professional finish to the center of my pincushion. After I've sewn everything, I pull a little thread so the fabric fits perfectly to the shape of the sphere, creating a voluminous effect that highlights the center of the flower.

Now, I'm ready to make the flower petals. To do so, I started by marking the leaf circles on the green fabric, and I decided to make five leaves in total. I also cut eight circles for the petals from the yellow fabric.

Now, I'm ready to make the flower's petals and leaves. To do this, I took a circle of green fabric and folded it the same way I did the petals. First, I folded the circle in half and then folded it in half again, forming a triangle. This method will give both the leaves and petals a more defined and stylized shape. Once I have the triangle formed, I sew along the edge to ensure a firm and well-made seam. I repeat this process with all the fabric circles, both the green ones for the leaves and the yellow ones for the petals.

Now that I have all the flower parts ready, I'll assemble them using liquid silicone to glue each part together. First, I'll place the green leaves. Then, on top of the leaves, I'll place the yellow petals, making sure they fit properly. Next, I'll add the center of the flower, which is the sphere covered with black fabric, over the petals. Finally, at the bottom, I'll place a piece of green fabric. This will not only cover the base but also give the pincushion a more polished and professional finish.

Now the pincushion is ready to use. I hope you enjoyed making this beautiful pincushion and that together we can learn to create our own craft materials and let our imaginations run wild. Thank you for joining me!
