Last two weeks have been been doing not much re: my computer at all; my dad was in town, so we did some things around the house. Finally put up a handrail for the hot tub, and it looks a whole lot better than the rail I had been planning to put up. Ate too much, played dumbass vidya too much, didn't go to gym too much.
It all started
...way back in October. My old PC blew up up; annoyingly, after I dumped everything off to a new computer and completely reformatted the hard drive (never found a hardware issue, btw), and reinstalled Windows 10. Ugh.
At the same time, I started having car issues. First the alternator belt went bad (as in frayed and came apart bad); I still had some noise coming out of the car after that, which I assumed was putting a new belt back on too tight (or maybe too loose). I screwed around with it for some time, misdiagnosing the problem(s); until I finally took it into the shop. Turned out it needed new spark plugs and a refill on power steering fluid. Too bad, I was all proud of myself for putting in the serpentine belt myself ;>
And there may be a leak as far as the power steering fluid...some of the noise is coming back.
I just started getting stuff back on track
I have been working, very slowly, on getting the new computer organized. I have been looking at various utilities, organizing old files, and consolidating a back-up plan.
- I have deleted a bunch of old porn (sad face)
- I have moved a bunch of old video I have shot from a maze of old folders into a central folder (I'll start working on putting some of this back online, except for some of it which is crap other than being personally entertaining to me)
- I thought I had lost passwords to an exchange with an extra stash of crypto on it, and had to dig that up.
One of the thing that is slowing me down (past my open laziness), is that my memory is significantly worse than it has been in the past. Thank g!d for Zotero as an organizational aid. And another use is for archiving your Steemit posts, and another use is for compiling RSS feeds.
And I finally got back to the gym yesterday. 3 trips in 6 weeks. Dumbass...oh yes, I am sore today ;>
A Triumphant Return to Steemit
...or maybe not :>
For the first time in a long time, I return to Steemit to see the price waaay down.
For me, if I had extra money, I'd buy Steem right now. There are reasons to argue that Steemit was a pump and dump, but I have a different reason to see things which will be the subject of another post. Not today, I think.
In any case, I do see that a lot of the original creative users have moved, a lot to Weku. So add that to the market dive, and the attendant overall cryptocrash, and the social media side of Steemit is notso hotso right now.
I'm looking at the proposed development side of STEEM, and I see potential. Since I have already pulled out a good deal of USD from my writing here, I am not as disappointed as I thought I would be ; yes, it would have been perfect for me to have made a living writing here, but I'm going to have to look ast my writing here as an INVESTMENT into my future based on how STEEM may shoot up as a result of the blockchain's SMT potential
I smell a lot of if coming off this plan ;>
What this means
I'm pulling back on all SP delegation which doesn't have a solid Steem return, especially since my own writing is going to be unorganized for the time being. Whatever happens in IW, my writing there is already going to have whatever effect (including none) it's going to have. I'll still write about it when it suits my mood, but I no longer have the delusion that my contribution is immediately necessary.
I'll be recycling a lot of old stuff here as well. That does include old stuff I have done on other platforms, and some of the old video I have consolidated.
I have been trying to avoid a lot of the writing I have done about being tired or overwhelmed that comprised too much of last year's writing, but I'll add that it has had an effect on my writing plan.
And as far as my social media plans have gone, GAB's capitulation to SJW demands means that I am no longer going to be expanding my social media "network", but trying to spend as much time as I can having more engagement on the sites i am already on.
And I will be starting with Steemit; it will remain my flagship and the origination of my writing shares to everywhere else.
