Hello to everyone in this community and fellow art lovers! I thought I'd already shown you the anniversary gift I made for my boyfriend to celebrate our seventh year together, but when I checked, I realized I hadn't, haha. I'd given him some drawings before, mostly digital ones, so I was excited about the idea of making something physical that he could put somewhere special. I was so inspired that I almost forgot to take pictures while I was working on it, but luckily, I managed to take enough to show you the process today 😉
For this illustration, I decided to base it on the style of mangaka Ai Yazawa, the creator of the anime NANA, a story my boyfriend and I watched together a while ago. I chose this style because I wanted to see how we'd both look in it, and "nana" also means "seven" in Japanese, so I thought the wordplay with the number of years we were celebrating was fun. I like Ai's drawing style; the characters look cute and elegant.
To create the drawing, I used a small canvas I'd bought a while ago and wasn't quite sure what to use it for, so I thought this was the perfect moment and design 😌 I first sketched the drawing in pencil on a white sheet of paper and then transferred it to the canvas using carbon paper. I tried drawing the sketch directly onto the canvas... but the texture wasn't ideal and it was making too much of a mess, so I opted for the carbon paper method, and it turned out quite well, in my opinion.
When it came to painting it, I confess I had a bit of a struggle, since I hadn't used acrylic paints in a while, and they had deteriorated from age and lack of use, leaving me with few colors. But that didn't stop me. I mixed the available colors to achieve some of the tones I needed (like the skin tone), and I also used watercolors for the colors I didn't have but needed.
For the shading, I opted for colored pencils, and for the outlining, I used black acrylic paint with a fine brush, although a fine-tipped black marker could also be used. For details like the highlights and the stars in the background, white paint was my go-to.
The phrase says "Happy seventh anniversary," using the font from the title of the aforementioned anime to represent the number. I really liked the result, so much so that I'd like to draw us in other anime styles to see how they turn out 👌 I should mention that my boyfriend loved his gift because he adores everything I make for him; he knows I put a lot of effort into it 💝

¡Hola a todos los integrantes de esta comunidad y amantes de los dibujos! Pensé que les había mostrado el regalo de aniversario que le hice a mi novio con el motivo de nuestro séptimo año juntos, pero al revisar, me di cuenta de que no había sido así jaja Ya le había obsequiado antes unos dibujos, pero más que nada al estilo digital, así que me emocionó la idea de hacer algo físico que pudiera colocar en algún lugar especial. De hecho, estuve a muy poco de olvidar tomar fotografías mientras lo hacía, por lo inspirada que estaba, pero por suerte, pude tomar las suficientes para mostrarles el procedimiento el día de hoy 😉
Para esta ilustración, pensé en basarme en el estilo de la mangaka "Ai Yazawa", la creadora del anime NANA, una historia que mi novio y yo vimos hace tiempo juntos. Seleccioné este estilo porque quería ver qué tal nos veríamos los dos de esa forma y "nana", también significa "siete" en japonés, así que me pareció divertido el juego de palabras con la cantidad de años que estábamos celebrando. Me gusta el estilo de dibujo de Ai, los personajes se ven lindos y elegantes.
Para realizar el dibujo, utilicé un lienzo pequeño que había adquirido hace tiempo y no sabía exactamente para qué usarlo, por lo que pensé que ese, era el momento y el diseño 😌 El dibujo, lo realicé primero en lápiz en una hoja blanca y luego, con la ayuda de papel carbón, trasladé el dibujo al lienzo. Traté de dibujar directamente el boceto en el lienzo... Pero la textura no me ayudaba y estaba ensuciando demasiado el espacio de trabajo, así que opté por el método mencionado y quedó bastante bien, a mí parecer.
A la hora de pintarlo, confieso que tuve que batallar un poco, puesto que, como tengo rato sin utilizar pinturas acrílicas, las mismas se me acabaron dañando por el tiempo y la falta de uso, por lo que tenía pocos colores. Pero, eso no me detuvo. Hice algunas mezclas con los colores disponibles para lograr algunos tonos que necesitaba (como el color de la piel), así como me apoyé en el uso de las acuarelas para aquellos colores que no tenía y necesitaba.
En el caso del sombreado, opté por usar crayones de madera y para el delineado, usé pintura acrílica negra con un pincel fino, aunque también podría usarse un marcador negro punta fina. Para realizar los detalles como el brillo y las estrellas del fondo,la pintura blanca fue mi aliada.
La frase dice "Feliz séptimo aniversario", utilizando la tipografía del título del anime recién mencionado, para referirse al número. El resultado me gustó bastante, tanto así que me gustaría dibujarnos en otra clase de estilos de anime para ver qué tal me salen 👌 Cabe mencionar que mi novio amó su regalo porque el adora todo lo que fabrico para él porque sabe, me esfuerzo mucho al hacerlo 💝
