Today I want to share with you my experience at El Morro pier, but before I begin, I sincerely hope you have a happy start to the week, full of positive energy and good times. There's nothing better than starting the day with memories that fill us with peace and motivate us to move forward.
This weekend we decided to get out and clear our minds, leave our everyday worries behind, and recharge with that special energy that only nature can transmit. And what better place to do that than El Morro pier, a charming spot that always gives us calm and beauty.
The pier is located in the municipality of Mariño, in the state of Nueva Esparta, on the wonderful Margarita Island. It is right next to Valdés Beach and very close to La Caracola Beach, making it a popular spot for both locals and tourists. To get there, we cross Caracola Beach, a journey that is in itself a gift for the senses, as the sound of the sea and the salty breeze accompany every step.
Hoy quiero compartir con ustedes mi experiencia en el muelle El Morro, pero antes de comenzar deseo de corazón que tengan un feliz inicio de semana, lleno de energía positiva y buenos momentos. Nada mejor que arrancar los días con recuerdos que nos llenan de paz y nos motivan a seguir adelante.
Este fin de semana decidimos salir a despejar la mente, dejar atrás las preocupaciones cotidianas y recargarnos de esa energía especial que solo la naturaleza sabe transmitir. Y qué mejor lugar para lograrlo que el muelle El Morro, un rincón encantador que siempre nos regala calma y belleza.
El muelle está ubicado en el municipio Mariño, en el estado Nueva Esparta, dentro de la maravillosa Isla Margarita. Se encuentra justo al lado de Playa Valdés y muy cerca de Playa La Caracola, lo que lo convierte en un sitio muy visitado tanto por locales como por turistas. Para llegar hasta allí atravesamos la playa Caracola, un recorrido que ya de por sí es un regalo para los sentidos, pues el sonido del mar y la brisa salada acompañan cada paso.
This dock is used by training ships, yachts, motorboats, and, of course, local fishermen. One of the images that fascinates me most is seeing the boats anchored in this small cove with calm waters. Although the sea becomes deep in some places, the serenity of the landscape is captivating.
Este muelle es utilizado por buques escuela, yates, lanchas y, por supuesto, por los pescadores de la zona. Una de las imágenes que más me fascina es ver los botes fondeados en esta pequeña ensenada de aguas tranquilas. Aunque en algunos puntos el mar se vuelve profundo, la serenidad del paisaje es cautivadora.
Sometimes, many young people jump off the pier to swim and splash around in the water, enjoying the coolness of the sea. However, this time the atmosphere was different; calm reigned because several people were fishing. The curious thing is that, without the need for words, a kind of line of respect is established. The boys, noticing the fishermen's activity, move towards the beach so as not to interrupt. It is a beautiful example of spontaneous coexistence.
En ocasiones, muchos jóvenes se lanzan desde el muelle para nadar y chapotear en el agua, disfrutando de la frescura del mar. Sin embargo, esta vez el ambiente era distinto; reinaba la calma porque varias personas estaban pescando. Lo curioso es que, sin necesidad de palabras, se establece una especie de línea de respeto. Los muchachos, al notar la actividad de los pescadores, se trasladan hacia la playa para no interrumpir. Es un ejemplo hermoso de convivencia espontánea.
The tranquility was such that even the pelicans were at the edge of the pier, waiting patiently to be rewarded with some fish. This is very common on the island, as fishermen often feed them. Pelicans are considered companions on the high seas, and sometimes even show fishermen where the sardine shoals are. This relationship between man and nature is truly admirable.
La tranquilidad era tal que hasta los pelícanos se encontraban en el borde del muelle, esperando pacientemente ser recompensados con algún pescado. En la isla esto es algo muy común, pues los pescadores suelen alimentarlos. Los pelícanos son considerados compañeros de faena en alta mar, y en ocasiones incluso les indican dónde se encuentran las manchas de sardinas. Esa relación entre el hombre y la naturaleza es realmente admirable.
As we gazed at the horizon, we saw a fishing boat returning from its day's work. It was a simple but meaningful sight: the connection between work, the sea, and everyday life.
On this visit, our intention was simply to sit on a rock, contemplate the sea, and enjoy watching the birds fly. However, on other occasions we usually wait for the boats to arrive so we can take home fresh fish. We have become accustomed to the incomparable taste of fish fresh from the sea, so different from fish that has been frozen.
Mientras observábamos el horizonte, vimos cómo una lancha de pescadores regresaba de su jornada. Fue un espectáculo sencillo pero lleno de significado; la conexión entre el trabajo, el mar y la vida cotidiana.
En esta visita nuestra intención era simplemente sentarnos en una roca, contemplar el mar y disfrutar del vuelo de las aves. Sin embargo, en otras ocasiones solemos esperar la llegada de los botes para llevar a casa pescado fresco. Nos hemos acostumbrado a ese sabor incomparable del pescado recién sacado del mar, tan distinto al que pasa por procesos de congelación.
The water at the pier is a stunning turquoise blue, a color that invites relaxation and seems to paint the soul with serenity.
El agua del muelle tiene un azul turquesa impresionante, un color que invita a la relajación y que parece pintar el alma de serenidad.
As we left the pier, we stopped at the edge of a hill overlooking Caracola Beach with its characteristic waves. It is a magical spot; the breeze carries a delicious scent of salt air, and the landscape is a visual spectacle that never fails to delight.
Al salir del muelle, nos detuvimos en el borde de una colina desde donde se aprecia la playa Caracola con su característico oleaje. Ese punto es mágico; la brisa con un delicioso aroma a salitre y el paisaje se convierte en un espectáculo visual que nunca cansa.
From there, you can also admire the modern buildings of the El Morro district, whose versatile and elegant architecture contrasts with nature, creating a unique postcard view. After enjoying these views, we headed home with our hearts full and our minds at ease, ready to face a new week of work with renewed energy.
Desde allí también se pueden admirar las edificaciones modernas del sector El Morro, cuya arquitectura versátil y elegante contrasta con la naturaleza, creando una postal única. Después de disfrutar de estas vistas, emprendimos el regreso a casa con el corazón radiante y la mente tranquila, listos para enfrentar una nueva semana de trabajo con energía renovada.
El Morro pier is more than just a place; it is an experience that combines sea, tradition, nature, and peace. Each visit leaves memories that become little gems for the soul.
