I started my walk on the Neva river embankment near Liteyny Bridge (Foundry Bridge). Weekdays and overcast weather gave me a chance to take pictures of this section of the embankment without people. The empty embankment was occupied by seagulls.
Liteyny Bridge has one feature that is very useful for walkers: the quay continues under the bridge. Car traffic in this place is quite high, but you can continue your walk without long waiting at crosswalks.
Passing the bridge, I went out to the monument to the ship "Poltava". This is a reduced copy of the ship on a high pedestal. From this place is very close to the Tavrichesky Garden, you just need to turn off the embankment on Shpalernaya Street.
The front entrance to the garden is on the other side, but on Shpalernaya Street there is a small gate, which I used. The entrance to the garden is located at the end of the alley, in front of the yellow building. The entrance is not disguised, but badly visible, and if you do not know the exact place you can easily pass by.
The Tavrichesky garden was laid out at the end of the XVIII century during the construction of the Tavrichesky Palace. Here flowed a small river, it was transformed into a system of ponds and ducts with beautiful bridges over water.
From the photo it is not very clear, but these benches stand on top of a small hill. I like this place, it offers a beautiful view of the trees and lawns. I chose one of the benches for rest. But soon I had to leave it: it started to rain.
