It's been long overdue, but I finally granted my mom's () request of painting something on our water dispenser.
Our dispenser is already old, and there are parts where it's already yellowish. She doesn't like seeing it... I mean, who would, right? So, several weeks ago (or maybe months... sorry), she asked me to paint over the yellowish part.
I immediately agreed, but have honestly forgotten about it until she reminded me a few days ago. haha Oh well, let's check it out! :)
When I asked her, "What design do you want me to paint?". She easily answered, "Waves!". In my thoughts, "Is it because it's a water dispenser, or because she loves hanging around Ecency Waves?" Hahaha... It could be both, but who knows? I just agreed without asking. XD
I won't have a class until 4PM later, so I decided to just work on it during my break time. (When Max takes a nap in my room).
This was how it looked. There were some scratches, too. I should sand it, but I'm lazy, so I decided to just paint over it. I'm using what's left of my acrylic paint... I need to restock. XD
To get started, I mixed in some paint... I'll be using three different colors, dark blue, light blue and blue green, plus white for the splashes.
I initially decided to create a cartoonish, wiggly type of waves, but it looked awful, so I erased it. I hurriedly wiped it with a wet tissue, but some paint stayed in the cracks, and it got worse. Oh no!! T_T
But I tried to calm myself down and think of a wave reference... and alas! How could I forget? I love Hokusai's "The Great Wave off Kanagawa". So, I looked up some photos online. I'm just doing the wave and Mt. Fuji... I decided against painting the boats. haha
Look at what happened after I erased the previous design!!! So terrible, but I decided to trust myself. haha
WOW!!! It's not looking good either. haha It was more of a bent shark fin than a wave. XD
At this point, I was thinking of just getting a new water dispenser. lol, but I'm relatively stubborn and refused to give up.
When I added the white paint, a sigh of relief came out... yes, I could work on this!
The wave is much closer to what I have in mind! I can't emulate Hokusai's art style... he's just so amazing! So I just added small quick strokes and somehow, I saw myself smiling. *Yes, this is it!"
And there's Mt. Fuji peeking in the distance! Among Hokusai's Thirty Views of Mt. Fuji, this one is among my favorites. I also like Morning After a Snowfall at Koishikawa and Reflection from Misaka Pass in Kai Province among others.
As for the back and cleaner part, I just created smaller waves around. I just added some small details, and I'm done!
Let me show you some more photos of the finished project.
Pardon my haggard face. I got a bit stressed when I started this small project, but eventually got better. :)
I finished it in an hour, so I got enough time to make a post about it. When I showed it to my mom, she liked it, so I'm glad. I wonder what other projects she has in store for me in the future. I'd gladly do it, though.
Also, I have to update my art wall, too. :) But, I'll take my time in doing so... Anyway, I'll end this post here. Thanks for reading, and see you around! (^^,)/
