I haven't really watched any anime series these days because of my schedule, but I've been reading several manga on Manga Plus and of course, I've been hitting the "Sports" genre for the past week... well, except for binge reading about a hundred Black Clover chapters that I decided to pile up the past months. And oh boy... It was crazy!!!!
Before I get too side-tracked with Black Clover, let me introduce you to yet another baseball manga called THE DAYS OF DIAMOND.
As I always say, I'm a sucker for sports anime and manga, so yeah... you might be reading a bunch of sports-related stuff in the coming days. Also, the photos that I'd be sharing with you on this post are screenshots from Manga Plus App.
You can read a bunch of manga for free... well, the ongoing ones. However, you can only read each chapter once. After reading the free chapter, it automatically locks. In my case, I decided to subscribe to the standard option because I tend to go back to some scenes that I really enjoyed. There's also a premium option which allows you to read the completed comics, but I've read most of them and it's pricey. hahaha
So yeah, The Days of Diamond is an ongoing manga about an elementary school student named Ayasegawa Jirou or Aya. He's naturally gifted when it comes to sports. Sounds like a great thing, right? But not for our dear MC.
He used to play tennis, gymnastics, swimming and so on. And because of his natural talent for sports, he excelled in all of them. However, instead of being admired for his talent and potential, he was traumatized. Other kids blamed him for ruining their dreams. Some parents complained to coaches and asked to let Aya join another team because his level is otherworldly. Seeing how people reacted to it, Aya, who only wanted to enjoy the sports, decided to give up.
Well, that was before he met a baseball team called "The Bambies". They're a low-level local baseball team who mostly plays for fun.
After signing up for the team, Aya experienced the joy that he's been yearning for... however, it won't last long as the story took a sudden turn. Well, if you're interested to know what happened, feel free to read it!!!
The manga has 57 chapters so far... I already caught up with it, so I'm now patiently waiting for the next chapter.
One of the things I like about its plot is that, the MC is already pretty strong... strong to the point that it has become his weakness. It reminds me so much of MAJOR and Goro Shigeno's Little League days. They're both talented baseball players who plays for a weak team. The only difference is that Aya doesn't have the same confidence as Goro due to his past experiences.
The art style is also really neat! For now, it's not that focused on the game as they're still building up the characters, but I see potential in this manga. I hope it'd have its own anime someday.
Anyway, speaking of baseball anime...
Diamond no Ace: Act II (Zoku-hen) has been confirmed!!!!
I'm so happy as I have been waiting for this. The first season for Act II ended last 2020, so it's been almost five years. I'm so excited to watch the continuation... well, I've read the manga, but seeing them in action still hits differently!
In addition, Boukyaku Battery has four episodes left, so I'd get to watch it soon! I enjoyed the manga, so I'm really looking forward to binge-watching the anime version once it's completed. I just can't get enough of baseball anime... well sports anime for that matter.
I'll end my post here. See you around!
