Hello Thursday, you've come and gone like a gentle breeze 🌬🍃🍂.
I had an old customer become new again and this was her cute sweet dog. She was crying to me to let her out and I could tell she just wanted to jump on me and lick me all over lol. It's so funny how kind and sweet pit bulls really are, they're generally very friendly and good dogs!
At another house I spied this interesting seed/fruit growing on a tree. I think it might be a type of magnolia but the coloring was really eye catching, it looked good enough to eat! Probably not a good idea though 🤣
The last couple weeks I have been craving Chinese buffet food. I've been kind of sad that my old favorite closed a couple months ago. It was the best one in the city but a couple days ago I remembered this other one which is the second best one. Well, now that the other one is closed this is the number one by default now, but the other one is still the best despite being closed permanently.
I got two plates of my classic favorites, but of course they don't have all the dishes from the old restaurant. That's what made the other one so great, they had a good variety of dishes and they were all well prepared and flavored nicely. It was a good quality restaurant that was hidden in an old strip mall that's being renovated now which I'm pretty sure is the reason why the rents went up which caused them to shut it down.
I tried their hot and sour soup and it, like all other Chinese buffets in town, was just not very good. The hot and sour soup at the now closed restaurant was excellent. It was actually hot (spicy) and sour! All these other places make theirs sweet and they skimp on the ingredients. They don't put any black pepper in it which is what was the best part of the other place, it was a nice slow burn in the back of the throat which was soothing on a cold night or with a sore throat.........
Oh well, I can make a somewhat close version at home but it's better to eat it in the restaurant 😆.
I also approached the Chinese buffet differently this time too. I took my regular long acting insulin at my regular time which happened to be about an hour before eating, and also a good amount of some medium action insulin as well. Then I took some fast acting before, during and after eating, as well as a nice walk through the neighborhood when we got home.
Well, the strategy worked because I just checked my blood and normally after all that food my sugar would still be pretty high even after correcting for it (because Chinese food can be tricky that way), but I'm at 68 which is actually a touch low!
I might have to "treat" this low with a nice little treat pretty soon, otherwise I might have a rough night waking up in a cold sweat shaking and panic eating everything out of the fridge at 3AM.... 🙄
So I'm probably going to drink a little juice because I am still feeling quite full from al the food I ate! I actually had a dessert plate too after the two plates and soup, and that had a few slices of melon, chocolate and tapioca puddings, jello, and some lychee fruits (which I've never had and they have an interesting, musky flavor. Strange 😆).
Well, I'm rambling now because my sugar is dropping (I can feel it), so I should sign off and say goodnight and wish you all a good rest and wonderful Friday ahead of you ✌🏻
