When Old Man Winter decides it's time to cover the landscape in that white, fluffy, cold stuff, here in Upstate New York, he doesn't fool around.
When this snowstorm finally decided to move on, it had dumped over 37 inches of snow on everything in its path. With this much snow, I'm always a little concerned about the stress that is placed on the roof of our home.
because of the tons of additional weight,
stressing its upright position,
just won't happen on my watch.
Shoveling the snow from the roof is quite a project,
and provides a self-induced stress test.
Who needs the doc to see how your cardiovascular system is doing?
Digging out from a snowstorm like this one takes several days.
The thick blanket of snow covering the vehicles lets you know that you will not be going anywhere for a while.
Thank goodness we have a snowblower to help us deal with repositioning the tons of snow. In order to be able to continue to venture outdoors, I'll cut paths throughout our property that will allow us to get around.
The old outhouse that was used before I built our home can still withstand the weight of the snow that collects on its roof. 😁
The one-room bungalows that provide some extra living space when the family visits can be seen in this picture.
As the warmth of the sun slowly melts the snow on the roof of our home, freezing temperatures turn the dripping water at the roof's edge, into icicles.
Howling winds that accompany many of the snowstorms, uprooted this old pine tree, narrowly missing one of the bungalows.
The rootball that had kept this tree in the upright position was saved,
and fashioned into a lawn ornament.
when there's Snow on a Building,
there's Snow on the Ground,
and it will be up to you,
if your plan is to still get around.
Exposing oneself to these conditions,
that #Mother #Nature brings our way,
can lift your spirits.
Talking about SPIRITS, a little of those won't hurt either!
thanks for this #SeasonHunt prompt. At this moment the temperature outside is a bone-chilling -13 degrees Fahrenheit. Windchill temperatures are expected to be -33 degrees.
Anywhere from 12"/20" of snow is in the forecast.
Going outdoors is out of the question, but thanks to you, SNOWY BUILDINGS are not.
