I’ve recently become interested in proper photography, so it took me a while to understand all the formats, settings, and terminology. Some of the Hivers here are incredibly skilled, and I thought I’d have a little go myself. I've been reading the manual and learning as I go.

I was genuinely excited to put my new knowledge into practice today using my Pentax K10D.
I went to the woodland (along with my homemade cheat sheet), and as I walked in, I was really hoping to find some mushrooms to photograph.

Just a few steps into the woods, I came across a pile of mown grass on the side of the path.

In one sunlit patch, there was a beautiful little troop of mushrooms, like they had been set up just for me. Lol, nature was being nice! I felt so grateful and excited!

I set up my camera, composed the shot, and took the photos. And yes, I had my cheat sheet with me, lol.

These mushrooms were a stunning violet-purple, commonly known as the wood blewit (Lepista nuda).

There were two larger ones and several smaller ones underneath and more a bit further.

These were the smaller mushrooms from the troop

I noticed the baby mushrooms weren’t as vibrant yet, so I think I’ll come back in a couple of days for another shoot, if the deer don’t find them first. They usually get to them before I do!

Look at those pretty gills!

The sun came and went, and I took the chance.

As they are edible, I took a couple of the mature ones home and left the smaller ones to continue growing.

Home with these beauties. I'll freeze these for now and wait for the rest to grow so I can whip up a nice recipe.

I’m really pleased I managed to do a bit of photography today for #fungifriday by
One thing I noticed: this Pentax K10D camera produces dreamy results.
All photos were taken by me, with a 52mm lens, F 5.4 / ISO 100-400. I’m not sure if I did everything right, lol. Any suggestions are welcome! :)
Have a lovely day,
Mariah 💜
