About me
Hi all,
My name is Thijs Vermeer and I live in the city of Arnhem in the Netherlands. I'm new to Hive but already starting to like it for what it is. Although it took me quiet some reading to fully understand it's core concept. And probably there is still a lot to learn here for me.
I have a broad interest in history, humanity, nature, technology and photography. My first steps into crypto were back in 2013 and I started photography in 2018 as I was looking for something to get me outdoors and enjoy nature. Photography learned me to look differently. Especially at nature, and therefore most of my photography efforts go into landscape and nature photography.
Passing red deer, minutes after sunrise yesterday morning:
In the surroundings of my hometown there is quiet some nature, and easy access to the biggest national park in the Netherlands. (The Netherlands is very small and densely populated) So I count myself lucky for not living in Amsterdam. 😉 Like yesterday morning when I saw it was freezing outside. I jumped into the car and found myself a few minutes later in the open frozen field with only the sound of birds and the a few red deer passing by in the distance. Moments like this is what keep me passionate about nature and photography.

Travel
In my job as an IT professional I've been traveling a lot, mostly to India and USA. I've always loved traveling and took the opportunity whenever I had the chance to do so. I've visited 47 countries. That includes almost every country in Europe and quiet some in Africa, the Americas and Asia. Since 2020 that all changed of course.
Early 2021 I got the opportunity to travel to Iceland. It was the first trip I spend solely on photography. And since I traveled all by myself and alone it was very easy to do. Iceland by the way was completely abandoned by tourist at that time, so it felt like having the place for yourself. I went to a few of the popular tourist areas and spend there hours just by myself. There was nobody.
I will shortly do a post about the other things I experienced and learned about photography in Iceland. I hope to learn more about the Hive platform and to have many interesting and meaningful conversations with you all.
Best Regards,
Thijs
