Metallic marker on black canvas
This is something that I've been wanting to try for months ever since I bought my metallic markers from Faber Castell. While I'm currently trying to part with most of our belongings, I'm not going to part with these metallic markers, I love them too much! What I will leave here are the canvasses as well as other paint that's left when we leave. Both my daughter and I are now trying to paint as much as we can to not waste any of it. I have black and white gesso as a base paint for artworks and used the black one for this canvas.
Tools and supplies
- Small canvas
- Black gesso
- Brush
- Metallic marker rose gold from Faber Castell.
The process
I have to admit that I was just feeling a doodling vibe when I started this one, and I didn't have a clear idea of what I was going to create honestly. I started this project in the evening as you can see below looking at the lovely pictures that have horrible lightning. Sorry about that!
I just started to doodle away.
It was still a mystery to me if I'd ever be able to finish this properly because it was a test drive using the marker on a canvas that I painted with gesso and I had no clue how long these markers lasted in general. I remember having some silver and gold markers in the past to write on Christmas cards but these markers often were just good for a few cards as I bought the cheap ones. That's exactly why I will always try to buy quality products now for my artistic vibes. They may often seen super expensive to buy, but at least they last a little longer and (very important to me!) they are much smoother to handle overall.
It's hard to capture the exact color in the dark as you can see it now looks more like gold. I assure you it's rose gold!
At this point, I started to see some sort of butterfly, a moon, and flowers. Although still very imaginative. But it's a doodle so that's fine, haha.
I really love the lower left part but the flower in the middle is a little less to my liking. But that happens, so no biggie. I will still continue.
This is the point where I really started liking my art as well as the real look of the black/rose gold combination.
I tried my best to capture the color correctly but it's hard in this apartment with artificial light mostly. Thankfully, when I was done, it was a bright day and I had enough light to capture it on the wall.
The End Result
I'm very happy with how this one turned out.
This one is taken from below as you can see, just another corner to show the metallic coloring.
Minting the art on NFT Showroom
As I was so pleased with the result, I decided to mint the art on . I was initially going for the same approach as the artwork I created with my daughter and mint 2 pieces, one for myself and list one for sale. Unfortunately, something went wrong and I ended up with only one minted. Too bad, but it is what it is. I listed the single piece for 33 swap.hive. I will stay true to my life number, the master number 33, haha.
Click here to go to NFT Showroom
All earnings from NFT sales will go into HBD savings for the future, just like those for my daughter. It will be interesting to see how that grows with 20% APR.
Thank you for stopping by! I hope you like the artwork as much as I do.
