Banana daiquiri
I've always loved bananas, so any smoothie with banana, a cocktail including banana would definitely be one I'd pick and probably enjoy drinking. Yet I had never had a banana daiquiri in my life until December when they had it on the menu in a restaurant we visited. It was actually because my friend shared a picture of one and told me they are damn tasty over there, so when we went there for the first time, I made sure to have one myself. It surely didn't disappoint, my boyfriend asked the waitress which rum they used for it. I remember him being impressed by the rum, I just forgot the name of it and it doesn't even matter because I was surely not going to buy expensive rum now for one drink. Maybe next time if I have a fabulous version of my own of the banana daquiri cocktail.
Supermarket
We went to the supermarket on a Saturday, big mistake! So crowded, especially outside the summer season because then it means every store is closed on Sunday so everyone is loading up for the weekend on a Saturday. Normally, we prefer to order in if we really need something on Saturday but this time we had another task of finding some cable for the LED lights that my boyfriend was going to install that day.
Brown rum
The only thing I had to add to this recipe for the first time was the brown rum because I was not going to strictly follow any of the recipes, I'm not a brown rum drinker and I've seen my boyfriend get sick from this rum a few times after having a few glasses only so I decided to play it safe, make a nice drink, maybe it ends up with not enough alcohol but at least I will not end up sick from it either. I could always consider it a luxury banana smoothie, right?
Frozen bananas
Recently, I had too many bananas and decided to freeze them in parts so the next time I want to make a smoothie and need a bit more consistency, I can use these because often I fail to refill ice cubes in time. Usually when I need them, they're all gone because I didn't pay enough attention to that drawer in the freezer.
Left-over coconut rum
This was truly not much, in fact, normally we should have finished those few sips the last time it was used but I like a bit of coconut touch to anything banana so here we go, I mixed the bananas with some sugar water (brown sugar) first to not overload the poor blender. I forgot to mention that the blender first didn't do anything, so there I was again with all my bananas and a bit of sugar water and a non-working blender. I still don't get why it didn't work but my boyfriend's magic touch fixed it, yay!
Milk and rum
I added milk (not too much) and then just a bit of rum to test it. The consistency was too thick to my liking and I didn't taste any alcohol so I threw it back in the blender to add a bit more rum (still careful) and a bit of milk to make it a bit more fluid. Oh, I forgot to mention I added ice cubes too which I should have probably skipped as I had frozen bananas.
Poured into a smoothy glass and voila:
As the led lights were just installed I used that spot for the picture, you will have to take my word on it when I say it tasted nicely. I'm going to buy white rum to add next time though because I think I will enjoy it more when there's more white rum and then I will see how I can spice it up with some other flavours.
I'm not a big drinker so this could take a while, I rarely crave alcohol and can go without it for years. Any nice tips to add to this one next time may be left in a comment, it's possibly I will try it next time!
Happy Sunday!
