I love Bali . The nature , food , culture and breeze never fail to amaze me how im still lucky to be alive until now and enjoy all those thing . I have been travel to bali several times mostly in 2018 . Staying there and explore most of the main city like kuta , ubud , sanur and seminyak .
I have make some friend with the local and they has bring me to experience the real meaning of bali . I learn that 90% of the citizen of bali is hindu . Its not just a hindu but it was a baliness hindu , where it was a mix of hindu religion and local culture and believe .
They believe on spirit like hindu , so if you visit bali , you ll see people will give the surround spirit with small offering everyday . They believe if that the spirit will not haunt them if they are full. Its not just in the house , you can see the offering near the road , inside the car , shopping mall and every where.
For every ritual they do , they will give offering to the spirit first . That was the first thing to do in their daily life . In their wedding ceremony , they also give offering to surround spirit so that they not disturb the ceremony . They will call priest ( a man who use white robe ) to do make sure the ritual of wedding go smoothly .
Those ritual is very expensive , so most of kid now a day didnt do the ritual anymore where they can save million indonesia ruppie. I was so lucky to become witness in this ritual . Where i do feel the present of spirit in this ritual .
The first ritual that they ll do early in the morning is telling they ancestor that they will married and get their blessing , the ritual is about 2 hours , where the priest will call their ancestor spirit to come and poses the doll that they has make earlier .
Then, after telling the ancestor and get their blessing , their give some offering to them . The regular offering in this ceremony is pig head . Im myself was very surprise seeing the big pig head on the offering chamber . :).
The offering ritual take another 1 hour. Then after the ritual they get in and out of their room 3 times as a symbolic they being welcome to the house . Those 3 ritual is very important for them in wedding ceremony . If they have budget , they ll invite barong and keris dancer to perform at their wedding .
After those all ritual finish , then its time for the couple to welcome and thanks all the visitor to come and become their wedding witness .
As me myself , it was the first time where i feel the present of strong spirit in this wedding . It was a good experience to see and learn it by our own eyes . The barong and keris performance is awesome , they say the dancer were poses by spirit to gain power and braveness during the performance .
The food was awesome , i hope i ll learn about their food in my next visit in Bali .
