Una introducción necesaria
Aprovechando la efervescencia ajedrecística que se siente por el recién concluido match por el título mundial y utilizando el momento cumbre de una partida de ajedrez que significa matar al rey del oponente me permito hacer este símil literario para, exponer los resultados recientes de un partido clave en un evento deportivo que está en su fase conclusiva y acapara los cintillos del mundo deportivo internacional: Los play off de la Asociación Nacional de Baloncesto (NBA).
Por tal razón, en esta publicación el autor expondrá los aspectos esenciales que a su juicio condicionan la posible eliminatoria del rey de esta competición en la última década, pero dejando la posibilidad que tiene de poder pasar a la serie final por el título de conferencia.
¿Los Lakers le dan Jaque Mate a los Warriors?
Los reyes del baloncesto de la Asociación Nacional de Baloncesto de la última década, los Golden State Warriors, están a punto de decir adiós en la lucha por defender su corona tras lo ocurrido en el cuarto partido de la semifinal de la Conferencia Oeste.
Todavía se nos hace increíble pensar que los actuales campeones hayan perdido ese partido que de ganarlo los hubiese puesto en una posición inmejorable porque, además, de empatarlo el tendrían dos posibilidades más de jugar en su casa y sellar su victoria, pero no fue así.
Vayamos a los hechos
Este era un partido clave. Quizás el más importante de este play off porque si ganaban los Golden State Warriors empataban la serie a dos victorias, pero de pasar lo contrario y vencer los Angeles Lakers, entonces estos se pondrían en una posición inmejorable con tres posibilidades por delante y un juego por ganar.

Comienzo del partido
El primer periodo fue de dominio alterno y tal vez el más parejo de los cuatro. En este tiempo se vio el dominio de las dos figuras dominantes de los Lakers (Lebron y Daves) mientras por los Warriors la puntuación estuvo más repartida.
En el segundo periodo Anthony Daves hizo de las suyas y junto al Rey Lebron llevaron la voz cantante, pero el mayor acierto y defensa más agresiva de los de Curry hicieron que estos se llevaran el parcial. Cuando el árbitro indicó el final de la primera mitad los Warriors ganaban por tres puntos.

Cuando inició el tercer periodo todos sabían que era muy probable que los guerreros de Steve Kerr liquidaran el partido.
Es algo que este equipo se ha encargado de hacer y en este caso no sería la excepción, pero, a pesar de la victoria parcial no sacaron los puntos suficientes que ellos tenían pensados como estrategia, y que en parte se debió al buen trabajo defensivo de los Lakers. A pesar de esto los Warriors lograron ganar el tercer tiempo por 4 tantos y ampliar la ventaja parcial a 7 puntos.
Final del partido
Lo ocurrido en el cuarto tiempo no se le olvidará jamás a la afición de los Warriors, tampoco lo olvidará e técnico de este equipo y mucho menos los jugadores, en especial su estrella Stephen Curry. A otro que tampoco se le olvidará será al jugador de los Lakers Lonnie Walker IV.
¿Qué ocurrió en este periodo?
En los 12 minutos finales del partido ocurrió lo impensable: el equipo que más puntería ha mostrado en la NBA falló en demasía, fueron incapaces de utilizar una de sus armas eficaces que es la defensa y en cambio se la aplicaron a ellos.
Sus dos estrellas tirando de tres puntos no pudieron sellar el partido y por si fuera poco su estrella falló el tiro que los ponía con vida y perdió el balón final del encuentro que les permitía pedir un tiempo fuera y tratar de buscar un tiro salvador.
Por el lado opuesto estuvo un equipo delos Lakers inmenso en defensa, pero, sin dudas, el héroe de ese cuarto y uno de los del partido y la victoria fue Walker IV quien anotó 15 de los 27 puntos de su equipo mientras los Warriors no encontraban la manera de pararlo.

Pero siendo realistas y objetivos nunca una serie de play off en esta instancia ha podido ser remontada y de la manera en la que están jugando los actuales campeones de la NBA menos.
De momento tienen que jugar todos los partidos como si fuera la final del campeonato y apelar a su mejor versión, para intentar desbancar a unos Lakers que están dispuestos a ganar el anillo número 18 y romper el abrazo que tienen con los Celtic, para convertirse en el equipo más ganador en la historia de la NBA.

Taking advantage of the chess effervescence that is felt by the recently concluded match for the world title and using the peak moment of a chess game that means killing the opponent's king, I allow myself to make this literary simile to expose the recent results of a key match in a sporting event that is in its conclusive phase and monopolizes the headlines of the international sports world: The National Basketball Association (NBA) play offs.
For this reason, in this publication the author will expose the essential aspects that in his opinion condition the possible elimination of the king of this competition in the last decade, but leaving the possibility of being able to move to the final series for the conference title.

Start of the game
The first period was of alternating dominance and perhaps the most even of the four. In this time we saw the dominance of the two dominant figures of the Lakers (Lebron and Daves) while for the Warriors the scoring was more spread out.
In the second half Anthony Daves did his part and together with King Lebron led the way, but the greater success and more aggressive defense of Curry's team made them take the partial. When the referee signaled the end of the first half, the Warriors were leading by three points.
Beginning of the defining stage
When the third period started, everyone knew that Steve Kerr's Warriors were very likely to win the game.
It is something that this team has been in charge of doing and in this case it would not be the exception, but, despite the partial victory they did not score enough points as they had planned as a strategy, and that was partly due to the good defensive work of the Lakers. In spite of this, the Warriors managed to win the third half by 4 points and extend the partial advantage to 7 points.
End of the game
What happened in the fourth half will never be forgotten by the Warriors fans, nor will it be forgotten by the coach of this team and much less by the players, especially their star Stephen Curry. Another player who will not be forgotten either will be Lakers player Lonnie Walker IV.
What happened in this period?
In the final 12 minutes of the game the unthinkable happened: the team that has shown the best shooting in the NBA failed too much, they were unable to use one of their effective weapons which is defense and instead they applied it to them.
