To recognize the importance of happiness in everyone's lives. International Day of Happiness was born and celebrated every 20th of March which started in 2012.
The song If You're Happy and You Know It on Youtube has been on my playlist and has always been played on a daily basis because of my daughter. I know the song is on default, but when I dig deeper into the message.
If you're happy and you know it, clap your hands
If you're happy and you know it, clap your hands
If you're happy and you know it, then your face will surely show it
If you're happy and you know it, clap your hands
How'd I wish us adults can genuinely show that we are happy at times. Because when adulting hits, responsibilities, and commitments kick sometimes we forget how to be happy and we don't know when we are.
Some are afraid to be happy because they believe that if they are, something bad will happen to them next.
But what makes you happy?
Depending on your situation right now, it may be easy to answer or maybe it is hard. All of them are valid as that is what you feel.
I'll start by sharing mine.
Sharing emotions and even shedding one isn't my forte thus happiness is something that I am not used to. If we will be talking about the younger age, I guess things that made me happy are playing video games for more than an hour escaping the reality of life, and how hard blending is to others. Having friends or peers growing up is something that I may have missed probably.
As I reflect on the question now that I am older and have my own family. My happiness lies in knowing that my household is secured in everything that life has to offer.
On a lighter note, some stuff that can make me even happier are the following.
- A hot, strong coffee prepared by my wife. There's this magic of having a coffee prepared by your special someone vs me preparing it. Maybe because they spend their own time brewing the coffee, adding sugar and creamer.
- Smiles from my wife and daughter. Truly a precious gift from God which I am always grateful for.
GossipsStories shared by friends. Since we are still stuck in our home and rarely go outside. We are somehow invested if a friend shares a story from their life or maybe someone's life.
- Getting discounts and bargain prices in the market. It has been 2 months already since we moved in here and little by little I am already adjusting to the market life. I already have some go-to folks in the market and somehow I am getting either a discount or an additional piece from the things that I bought from their store, may it be veggies or meat and fish.
- A new book that I will never finish reading and just be a part of the piled books that I bought and started reading but haven't completed it or dropped it halfway.
A new isekai series that I will binge read or an update from manga/manhwa that I am well invested in.
Lastly, money in our bank accounts. If someone will say that money can't buy their happiness please by all means give it to those who will be in need of it and I myself volunteer as a tribute. I have multiple bills to pay and the amount that I am targeting to achieve this quarter so any amount will be greatly appreciated.
So yeah it was quite a list. So how about you what makes you happy? Maybe there's something that I can be of help on achieving one 😄
