I read this quote yesterday that ringed a bell:
"What the New Year brings to you will depend a great deal on what you bring to the New Year." by Vernon McLellan.
This was supposed to be a December 1st post, but life got in the way...
New Year's Eve is coming in 29 days and even though for me the beginning of the autumn feels a lot more like the beginning of a new circle, I really felt something when I read this quote. A need of shaking things up a bit, prioritizing, organizing and all these good stuff that I avoid procrastinating and giving myself the most convincing excuses.
I think we all once or more times in our lives just let things be and wait for everything to change in a magic way. Who we are and what we do. It doesn't sound clever, but it sounds very human :)
As if a day like New Year's Eve could automatically purify us, elevate us and turn us into a better, not just better, a wonderful version of us. That would be great and... magic!
And although I believe in magic, I don't think it works this way :)
Why not starting to change things right away?
Things inside us and around us?
What if we started counting down to New Year's Eve by making a resolution for New Year's Eve to find us in our best shape whatever this is for any of us.
With this first photo I can recall one of the most beautiful and happiest moments in my life. I am ready to plant our first asparagus after waiting for so long for them to grow in our little nursery.
As you can see it is accompanied by a parsley. That was a brilliant idea of a friend, since asparagus cannot be easily seen when it is small and it grows under the ground during wintertime, so in order not to lose them in our chaotic garden, there was a parsley showing the spot. That year we had the most parsley we have ever managed to grow, while the asparagus project was a big failure.
But what's the meaning of all this...
Well, never forget that seeds take a while to grow into plants, exactly as our efforts take a while before we see any result.
No result or success is guaranteed. But instead of looking at it as a failure, you might reconsider observing what you gained from it. For us it was the most delicious parsley :)
Experience is priceless. And I like to see experience as Oscar Wild described it:
“Experience is the name we give to our mistakes.”
Embrace the whole package! I am ready to start!
