Yeah, 2022 was a broke year for the average gamer. Worse was not being able to buy the console I've been wanting to get for a long time now. I made sacrifices by selling stuff to upgrade my computer, and be stuck in this odd place where I couldn't play some of the games I wanted to.
Believe me, I could have owned a PS4 or maybe not sold the one I had over a year ago, what's done is done. Thing is, I honestly thought that would be my year, but it wasn't. The PS5's pricing is still bad where I live, and I have to sell my kidney at that point to buy it.
Here are a few games I'm hoping to catch up on, missing out at. My friends were riding the trends really hard, while I missed out. Hopefully maybe I could get the system I want, also, funny enough, they're still selling the PS4s here close to 200 USD. And among other things. I should also find time to focus on my studies and manage the time well enough to play these, as well as the new ones that came out.
Bayonetta 3
There were certain controversies around this game before its release, that could have impacted my decision to buy it. Thankfully, that red herring didn't, and the game went out to sell really well. One of those buyers will hopefully be me.
The grand extravagant, hack n slash from the minds of Kamiya is not something I'd want to miss. Playing the original, I could see why people got hyped for this. As of now, currently trying to finish Bayonetta 2, then afterward, soon enough, the game will be on my hands. Also, great to see the Switch handling this well, unlike those new Pokémon games.
God Of War: Ragnarok
Can you imagine how sad and humiliating it feels to miss this one out? I remember playing the predecessor to this, just a few days before it entered brick and mortar stores. Now, am several months late to the action.
One of the games where I've been incentivized to buy a PS4, just for the sake of catching up on it. If it wasn't for the fact that I had to buy my oldest brother's laptop and a new phone, I would have been whooping Thor's ass.
I was glad to hear that they've added quality of life improvements, additional game mechanics, as well as expanding on almost every facet of the game, including the story. Sony's Santa Monica put so much love into this sequel, I am super eager to get it right around the time I do get a console, either PS4 or PS5.
Dying Light 2
So ah, a bit of confession, I own the original Dying Light, including the expansion. Didn't touch it much, and I kind of feel like an idiot for ignoring this. But, I really wanted to go back to the parkour zombie trend, just like how I played Dead Island.
Fast mobility survival games are few in-between, and it would be sick to pull off stunts while streaming this game. The world is packed with a variety of zombie horrors, amazing open-world design with so many buildings to climb, and of course, zombies to kill, with friends too.
Horizon: Forbidden West
Zero Dawn was a big benchmark for the PS4, and it's only close to being 6 years old now. An amazing game, that actually did kind of fall short on a few things. But one of the many things that also did drive me to play the game was the story. Chris Avellone did some consultancy in it, so I can see the rich narrative design in it.
Forbidden West was set to improve on a majority of things, as well as expanding much further on combat and exploration. I saw the trailers, and I was really willing to let this game jerk my knee a bit. Unfortunately, it's also one of the games I've missed because of not owning a PS4. Hopefully that is rectified later. Talk about bad luck.
And If I can keep a copy of the game before buying a PS5, I can finally embrace the visual landscapes in 4K and see how much the developers have progressed crossing to the next generation.
Lost Judgment
You wanna know how obsessed I am with the yakuza games? I finished all the titles in the franchise, that includes the spin-off Judgement. This is a 2021 released title, but for Steam, it came out last year. And before Like A Dragon 8 and Ishin comes out, I am definitely putting a good chunk of my time into Lost Judgment.
I mean, some people would call it a lost cause, because the story and narrative here isn't as strong as the first game, but like I care, I really want to put my claws into this. Especially with the revamped fighting mechanics, added new mini-games, boatloads of stuff to do, and the best part, is the Kaito DLC that came out later on. I've been obsessed with Yakuza games since 2021, and now that I am done with all except one, I will have two more to play later on. My cash bank don't fail me now.
