As promised on my last unboxing, we will be taking a closer look on all those sexy eagles I showcased.
First on the list is this chubby girl:
Much curves, very wow 💝
The eagle side reads "BUNDESREPUBLIK DEUTSCHLAND
5 DEUTSCHE MARK" for "Federal Republic of Germany 5 German Mark 1974"
If we turn it on the other side we have a really interesting design:
The symbol of the eleven countries forming the Germany. Not surprising, considering it's a commemorative coin for the 25th Anniversary of the federal Constitutional Law
The Basic Law for the Federal Republic of Germanybis the constitution of the Federal Republic of Germany. The West German Constitution was approved in Bonn on 8 May 1949 and came into effect on 23 May after having been approved by the occupying western Allies of World War II on 12 May. It was termed "Basic Law" (German: Grundgesetz) to indicate that it was a provisional piece of legislation pending the reunification of Germany. However, when reunification took place in 1990, the Basic Law was retained as the definitive constitution of reunified Germany. Its original field of application (German: Geltungsbereich)—that is, the states that were initially included in the Federal Republic of Germany—consisted of the three Western Allies' zones of occupation, but at the insistence of the Western Allies, formally excluded West Berlin. In 1990, the Two Plus Four Agreement between the two parts of Germany and all four Allies stipulated the implementation of a number of amendments. source and more info
The edge comes with an inscription:
"DIE MENSCHENWÜRDE IST UNANTASTBAR" for
"Human dignity is invokable"
Size comparison vs a standard euro coin:
A decently sized coin, with a weight of 11.2 g, 0.625 silver. That's exactly 7 grams of silver.
Imo, a really beautiful piece. It would be great if it was of higher purity !
I got mine for 7 euros. More then what I wanted but oh well... It's a great piece for my collection!
