I remember when I was little, my grandmother used to make snacks from cassava leaves. Sometimes we make this snack a side dish because the snack tastes savory and spicy. I thought of making the same Snack, but I don't have cassava leaves at home. So I decided to go to the garden and see what vegetables I could use instead of cassava leaves. I see a lot of kale leaves behind the house, I will use kale leaves as a substitute for cassava leaves.
To make this snack I use young kale leaves and don't use the stems. I chose some young kale leaves (about a small bunch). I am very excited about harvesting these green kale leaves, I planted them in polybags without any factory fertilizers and the results are fresh, young kale leaves.
The ingredients
The ingredients that I use to make round tofu filled with kale are :
20 pieces of white tofu
1 bunch of kale leaves
3 pieces of garlic
3 pieces of red onion
3 candlenuts
1 tablespoon of salt
1 pack of ground pepper
1 stalk of prei leaf
300 mL of cooking oil
1 L of water
some cayenne pepper
How to make
1.To make round tofu filled with kale, first I will boil the kale leaves. Pour water into a saucepan, add a little salt so that the kale leaves stay green when cooked, boil the water until it boils.
2.Wash the kale leaves under running water.
3.Put the kale leaves into the boiling water, boil for only about a minute to make the kale wilt, then drain and let cool.
4.Wash the red onion, garlic and candlenuts.
5.Grind the red onion, garlic, candlenuts and a teaspoon of salt. I use a mortar and pestle to grind it down, I love the aroma of the spices that break when hit with the pestle.
6.Cut the leeks, then mix it into the spices that have been smooth,smash back all the ingredients until smooth.
7.Puree white tofu.
8.Add pepper powder according to taste, I like spicy snacks, so I'll add a packet of ground pepper.
9.Cut the boiled kale into small pieces, the smaller the pieces the better.
10.Mix white tofu that has been mashed with pieces of kale leaves.
11.Add the ground spices, mix until well blended.
12.Shape the white tofu dough according to taste, I will shape it like balls, friends can shape it with star molds or other shapes.
13.Heat the cooking oil.
14.Enter the tofu dough that has been formed into the cooking oil.
15.Fry until browned, don't forget to turn the other side until it is evenly cooked and not burnt on one side.
16.Once cooked evenly, turn off the stove. Drain so that the cooking oil level is reduced.
Serving method
We usually serve this tofu snack filled with kale with cayenne pepper, put fresh cayenne pepper into the tofu filled with kale.
This savory and crunchy snack can also be eaten with warm rice and chili sauce.
