HELLO FELLOW NEEDLEWORKER AMD FRIENDS
It's good to be back again among like mind in the fields of needwork, I hope this meet you in good health and hope you are all doing exploits in your various needlework fields?, In my today's project, I'll be sharing the full do it yourself process of how to make a braided comfy slippers upper design, this project also consist of a ruched slippers upper design, because I marged both design on this slipper project.
Making a Slippers requires a lot of work, process and specialty, but I'm certain you should be able to achieve something as gorgeous as the design above, if you thoroughly followed the process/procedure I'll be sharing below, so without further ado, let get to business.
MATERIALS USE
- Leather material
- Nora sole material
- Marco insole material
- Gum
- Linning
- Super Glue
PROJECT DESIGN PROCESS
Just like every other footwear crafting, measurement of the clients foot size is very important before you start cutting the materials, because it'll go a long way in determining the length to be cut.
Once the measurements is ascertain, then we can process with the cutting of our upper, sole and insole materials, then we can apply gum on it and place it on a linning material, so as to make the leather material more tick and firm.
- For the upper design, I first started with the ruched styling, and to achieve that, I folded a straight line leather material, the see it straight down and turn it inside out, I then put another straight line leather inside it and sew it together in one side of the, once that was done, I held the other part of the straight leather I placed inside the sewed leather, and gradually fold it, till it form the spine I want.
For the braided comfy style, I cut the tinning leather material with I mix with the linning like I explain in the second section of my explanation, you'll noticed I use both gray and black colour for the braid with looks like a design, but it wasn't really my intention in the first place, but because I run short of the materia, I decided to mix it and turn it into a style.
So to achieve the braided comfy style you'll hit each edges of the leather material or a table close to each other, then you can start braiding it just the way hair is been braided, until you get to the end of the other edges, then you can sew or apply gum on it edge's, so it won't lose again.
- Once the upper design is completely achieved, I blended the edges of the upper, insole and sole with my grinding machine, and then apply gum on the edges of the insole and both edges of the uppers design, and then attached them to the insole and tested it on a shoe last to see if it fitted firmly.
- On a final note, I grinded the back of the insole again, so it back won't be slippry and gum is been applied, so after it as been grinded, I applied gum on the back of the insole and then back if the Nora sole material, then I let it dry for some minutes, because attaching them together, hit the back with hammer so it can stick together firmly and also apply super gum or some open edges for the finishing of the slippers.
- And here is how gorgeous our braided comfy and ruched style Slippers looks.
Also below are some braided comfy style and ruched style design I've made in the past.
