I'm taking you along with me as I create a new card deck for myself. I will create it with an American Indian theme as I did once before. What is Lenormand? - check out my previous article.
Card 5 - the Medicine Wheel
This is another one that I had to take artistic license with. The original is the Tree - as in, the Tree of Life. It's an image I really love, but when thinking tribally, I realized it wasn't the perfect match - in fact when I made my first set, I wasn't able to find a good image with the tree...
So, today as I was thinking about this card 5 and what represents life and healing to the tribes, the Medicine Wheel instantly sprang to mind. With the original thoughts of life, health and connecting to one's roots, this change seems completely appropriate.
When we think of the tree (of life), we tend to think of:
- health, growth and strength
- families, friends, security
- roots, steadfastness and everlasting
- nature, parks, our connection to the earth
As it evolves to the medicine wheel, I'm still thinking of:
- health and healing
- grounding to the earth (through rocks, dirt, sand...)
- everlasting nature of some of these ancient (or modern) places
- our connection with family, friends and eternity
Yes, I think it works very well indeed.

For my new card, For my new card, I hit Google Images search, looking for something with CC0 (Creative Commons 0) licensing meaning that I don't always have to remember to credit someone - essential if I were to start doing paid readings with these cards.
I also had to find out which traditional playing card is associated with this card. So, here is my result:
