Hi HODLers,
The International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) has announced the launch of its fully operational metaverse.
This is intended to be the:
“first-ever Metaverse specifically designed for law enforcement worldwide.”
You may ask, what the hell is Interpol doing in the metaverse? Well, as crime may evolve and be perpetrated in this new environment; crime enforcement units also have to adapt.
As the Secretary General stated:
“For many, the Metaverse seems to herald an abstract future, but the issues it raises are those that have always motivated INTERPOL – supporting our member countries to fight crime and making the world, virtual or not, safer for those who inhabit it,”
For now it seems it will be mostly use for training as the example show some Interpol experts delivering a training course on travel document verification and passenger.
What are your thoughts? A good first step by law enforcement authorities or an overreach and over reaction?
Stay safe out there,
