Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro on Tuesday signed a decree that will temporarily make it easier for Brazilians to buy guns, despite fears the move could aggravate already staggering violent crime.
The executive order, signed in a live television broadcast following a cabinet meeting, allows "good citizens" to more easily own firearms, said Bolsonaro, a former army captain.
"To guarantee the legitimate right of defense, as president I am using this weapon," he said, indicating the pen he then used to sign the decree.
The far-right president ran on a law-and-order platform. His message resonated with voters in Brazil, which in 2017 had a record 64,000 murders, more than any other country.
Good news for the people of Brazil they are starting to get some of their freedoms back. Gun control in Brazil has really backfired since I think the 90's when new gun restrictions were enacted. It has one of the highest murder rates in the world and tough guns laws but like anyone that has done some research into gun restrictions knows that these laws don't prevent criminals from obtaining firearms. Criminals in Brazil routinely kill cops just for their firearm because they can sell that gun for a nice price on the black market or commit even more crimes with it. You can steal a lot of cars and motorcycles if you have a gun and the law abiding citizens don't. That's why it makes sense for law abiding citizens to own firearms to protect themselves, their family and property from criminals.
The people in Europe should take note of this and demand more gun rights from their politicians. Especially with all the immigrants they brought that are committing a disproportional amount of the crime. I read that more German's are apply for gun permits to protect themselves from the increase in crime.
Germans Seek Record Number of Weapons Permits
The number of Germans seeking a weapons license has seen a massive increase in 2018. The amount of small arms permits issued jumped 130 percent from 2014 to the latest figures published this year. Only 261,332 permits were issued in 2014. In January of this year, firearm permits had already risen 85 percent over 2014. The trend has continued to where we are now: German authorities have processed more than double the 2014 amount of permits, bringing the total to 600,000.

The right to bear arms and protect yourself from evil people that wish to do you harm is a God given right and no government should be allowed to take that away from you. I feel sorry for folks in other countries that want to protect themselves but can't. Hopefully this news will encourage more folks to pressure their politicians into repealing non-sense gun restrictions.
