Merida is definitely a natural and cultural treasure, full of incredible landscapes, each with its own magic and the Mucubaji Lake is undoubtedly one of those treasures. This immense place is located in the Sierra Nevada National Park, in the state of Merida, at an altitude of approximately 3500 meters above sea level, on the road that goes from Apartaderos to Santo Domingo and Barinas. Upon arrival, this place has parking lots very close to the lagoon, so after our bus was perfectly positioned, we proceeded to deploy throughout the site.

Many years ago I had already visited this site, but at that time I did not dedicate myself to admire the true beauty of this place, and since I got off the bus I was totally in love with the landscape and how wide it is, with very serene waters reflecting the cloudy sky. I walked around where I could easily feel an immense tranquility.

Definitivamente Mérida es un tesoro natural y cultural, lleno de increíbles paisajes cada uno con su propia magia y la Laguna Mucubají es sin duda uno de esos tesoros. Este inmenso lugar se encuentra ubicado en el Parque Nacional Sierra Nevada, en el estado Mérida, a una altitud aproximadamente de 3500 metros sobre el nivel del mar, en la vía que va de Apartaderos hacia Santo Domingo y Barinas. Al llegar dicho espacio cuenta con estacionamientos muy cerca de la laguna así que luego de que nuestro bus se ubicará perfectamente procedimos a desplegarnos por todo el sitio.

Hace muchos años ya había visitado este sitio, pero en esa entonces no me dedique admirar la verdadera belleza de este sitio, y es que desde que baje del bus quedé totalmente enamorada del paisaje y lo amplia que es, con unas aguas muy serenas reflejando el cielo nublado. Camine por el alrededor donde fácilmente pude sentir una tranquilidad inmensa.

As the stay at the lagoon was a little longer compared to the other sites I had already visited and that in previous posts I showed you, we took very quiet and super smooth steps in the company of my family until we reached the wooden pier which extends over the lagoon and from there you can completely observe everything that surrounds the lagoon, and you can hear the murmur of the wind giving away such a pure air.

Como la estadía en la laguna era un poco más larga a comparación de los otros sitios que ya había visitado y que en post anteriores les mostré, dimos pasos muy tranquilos y súper suaves en compañía de mi familia hasta llegar al muelle de madera el cual se extiende sobre la laguna y desde allí se observa por completo todo lo que rodea está laguna, y escuchas súper claro el murmullo del viento regalando un aire tan puro.

At the end of the pier there is a photo of the lagoon and surrounding information about it, including the hectares it has, the km, the depth and even the amount of water, really very important and interesting these posters because at once informs you the most common curiosities of the site, plus it is always good to know more than what you see. It is also known as the site of the big water, the name comes from the indigenous language. And how impressive it was to read that the lagoon was formed approximately 12,000 years ago as a result of melting glaciers. Another interesting thing about this informative poster was to explain the plant that is seen so much around the lagoon, with images describing its name and characteristics.

Al final del muelle se encuentra una foto de la laguna y a sus alrededores información sobre la misma, entre ellas las hectáreas con las que cuenta, los km, la profundidad y hasta la cantidad de agua, de verdad muy importante e interesante estos carteles porque de una vez te informa las curiosidades más comunes del sitio, además siempre es bueno conocer más allá de lo que se ve. También es conocido como el sitio del agua grande que dicho nombre proviene de la lengua indígena. Y que impresionante fue leer que la laguna se forma aproximadamente hace 12.000 años como consecuencia del derretimiento de los glaciares. Otra cosa interesante de este cartel informativo fue explicar la planta que tanto se ve alrededor de la laguna, con imágenes describen su nombre y características.
