[ESP-ING] Maestranza Bullring César Girón

Entre los toreros famosos que han pasado por esta hermosa Plaza de Toros están los hermanos Girón, Luis Miguel Dominguin, pepegallatdo, Manolito Bienvenida (quien inauguró la plaza), Diego Puerta, César Rincón, Morenito de Maracay, estos dos últimos fue el más lleno de la plaza que el sr Elpidio haya visto, ya que las entradas se agotaron en menos de lo pensado, la capacidad de la plaza es de 7mil personas y el dice que ese día entraron un poco más de 8mil, sentados todos bien apretados.

Pudimos entrar hasta el medio de la Maestranza, donde pudimos ver los palcos y como está quedando hermosa está plaza, los arcos que le dan ese estilo colonial y que la hacen parecerse a la de Sevilla se conservan muy bien, en la parte de arriba pusieron vidrios y es donde se sentarán las personas y toreros importantes para su inauguración la cual tienen pensada podría ser en julio de este año.

Al estar en el centro de la plaza se puede sentir y sentirse la energía y los gritos que en ella se han vivido, el sr Elpido me mostró como el eco de la plaza se hace sentir, y nos comentó que en las noches y madrugadas se pueden escuchar algunas cosas en la plaza, que ha visto apariciones y hasta le han ofrecido desenterrar un tesoro, el lo cuenta en forma de chiste porque dice que el no le tiene miedo a eso, pero no se arriesgo a desenterrar nada ya que dice que quien desentierra eso termina muerto.

Por último nos mostró una frase en árabe que dice en la entrada de atrás por sonde estran los toros y los toreros la cual dice "La Lucha entre la bestia y el hombre al final quien gana es Alah".

I have lived my entire life in the city of Maracay, Aragua state, and this is the first time I have had such a great experience at the César Girón Bullring, thanks to my friend Elpidio Fuentes, who was my guide and historian and told me about his experiences at this historic site in my state. I never thought I would learn so much information, as I only went down to take some photographs and talk a little about the construction of this emblematic place. I saw that the bullring has been undergoing renovation for some time; it used to be pink, and years ago it was tan, but this time it is a bright yellow like the Araguaney trees, and I love that our beautiful bullring looks so vibrant. It was built by Venezuelan architect Carlos Raúl Villanueva, inspired by the Plaza de Toros de la Real Maestranza de Caballería in Seville, and inaugurated on January 20, 1933, under the command of General Juan Vicente Gómez. The name of this bullring is due to the famous bullfighter César Girón, originally from Maracay, who had three brothers who were also bullfighters. César died very young in an accident on the regional highway in the center of the country. Only one of his brothers is still alive today. Three of them represented Venezuela in Spain, and Mr. Elpidio says that once César defeated the bull in Spain and was entitled to the bull's two ears, tail, and two legs. However, they did not want to give him the legs because he was Venezuelan, but they did give them to a Spaniard who was in the same bullfight.

In front of the bullring, there is a sculpture of César Girón bullfighting a bull. It is made entirely of bronze, and to my surprise, I learned that the bull had a name: Presumido, a very beautiful name for a bull. Mr. Elpidio arrived at the bullring at the age of 14 with the dream of becoming a bullfighter, However, he was unable to fulfill his dream because a cow ended up gouging out one of his eyes. He talks about this with great charisma, saying that a Spanish bullfighter lost an eye in a bullfight and that didn't stop him. He continued bullfighting and became a multimillionaire. Today, Mr. Elpido is over 70 years old.

We were able to enter the middle of the Maestranza, where we could see the boxes and how beautiful the bullring is turning out to be. The arches that give it that colonial style and make it resemble the one in Seville are very well preserved. Glass was installed at the top, which is where important people and bullfighters will sit for the inauguration, which is planned for July of this year.

Standing in the center of the plaza, you can feel the energy and hear the cries that have been experienced there. Mr. Elpido showed me how the echo of the plaza can be felt, and told us that at night and in the early morning you can hear things in the square, that he has seen apparitions and has even been offered the chance to unearth a treasure. He tells it as a joke because he says he is not afraid of that, but he did not risk unearthing anything because he says that whoever unearths it ends up dead.

Finally, he showed us a phrase in Arabic at the back entrance where the bulls and bullfighters are, which says, "In the struggle between the beast and man, in the end, Allah wins."
