Hello to all my readers! Today we will continue to walk around the Great Gatchina Palace and I will fulfill my long-standing promise to show you a little of how the restoration of the palace is going.
ONLINE REFERENCE: The Great Gatchina Palace is the central attraction of the Palace Park in Gatchina, located 45 km from St. Petersburg. Until the middle of the twentieth century, the palace museum was considered the largest among similar cultural and historical sites located in the vicinity of Leningrad. It was often called the "Suburban Hermitage" and even the "Castle of the Russian Hamlet". He experienced greatness, nationalization, destruction, oblivion and waited for a real rebirth. Today, the state-scale cultural heritage site, which has become one of the symbols of Gatchina, is included in the UNESCO list as a "monument associated with the historical center of St. Petersburg."
But first we need to go through a separate wing of the building from the large guest room through another staircase, going up one floor again. Here I have placed several pictures from the gallery, however, here is only an ordinary setting with interiors in the classical style.
However, before we get to the place, I still want to draw your attention to a few colored engravings hanging on the walls. They depict the soldiers of the guard during the formations.
The thing is that Emperor Paul I was very fond of organization in the army. He sometimes personally hosted parades and could watch the training and the formation of columns of soldiers for hours. These engravings depict exactly those historical moments when the Pavlovian reform took place in the Russian army.
Going back upstairs, we find ourselves in a long room running half-arc. We passed the exact same gallery a little earlier, and there we could observe peace and order. If we look at the plan of the palace, we will see that there are really two semi-circular wings in the palace, since the palace is symmetrical.
But unlike the well-groomed and beautifully furnished rooms of the former gallery, there is an atmosphere of construction and restoration here. The visitor can see that the walls in the hall with weapons are completely bare and have not yet been reached by the skillful hands of restoration specialists.
I took some pictures of the guns and muskets. Pay attention to how carefully the barrels, silicon locks and butts of various types of weapons are inlaid. In those years, the craftsmen gave their products the maximum amount of work and diligence.
In the wings of the palace, where the restoration is taking place, it is very dark in places. I've only taken a few pictures where you can see a lot of things. Here we even see half-destroyed old frescoes, decorative elements and finishes. Restorers will have to work very hard to ensure that the rest of the palace acquires its former majestic appearance.

До середины ХХ столетия дворец-музей считался крупнейшим среди аналогичных культурно-исторических объектов, находящихся в окрестностях Ленинграда. Его нередко называли «Пригородным Эрмитажем» и даже «Замком русского Гамлета». Он пережил величие, национализацию, разрушение, забвение и дождался настоящего возрождения. Сегодня объект культурного наследия государственного масштаба, ставший одним из символов Гатчины, включен в список Юнеско как «памятник, связанный с историческим центром Санкт-Петербурга».
Но сначала нам нужно пройти через отдельное крыло здания из большой гостевой комнаты через другую лестницу, снова поднявшись на этаж вверх. Здесь я поместил несколько снимков из галереи, впрочем здесь лишь обыденная обстановка с интерьерами в стиле классицизм.
Однако, пока мы не дошли до места, я всё же хочу обратить ваше внимание на несколько раскрашенных гравюр, развешанных на стенах. На них изображены солдаты гвардии во время построений.
Всё дело в том, что император Павел I очень любил организацию в войсках. Он порой лично принимал парады и часами мог наблюдать за тренировками и построением колонн солдат. На данных гравюрах отображён именно те исторические моменты, когда проходила павловская реформа в русской армии.
Пройдя снова наверх, мы попадаем в длинное помещение, идущее полудугой. Точно такую же галерею мы проходили чуть раньше, и там могли наблюдать мир и порядок. Если посмотреть на план дворца, то мы увидим, что полугруглых крыла во дворце действительно два, так как дворец симметричен.
Но в отличие от ухоженых и красиво обустроенных комнат прежней галереи, здесь царит атмосфера строительства и реставрации. Посетитель может увидеть, что стены в зале с оружием совершенно голые и до них пока не добрались умелые руки специалистов-реставраторов.
Я немного пофотографировал ружья и мушкеты. Обратите внимание на то, как тщательно инкрустированы стволы, кремниевые замки и приклады разного вида оружия. В те годы мастера уделали своим изделиям максимальное количество труда и усердия.
В крыла дворца, где проходит реставрация местами очень темно. Я сделал лишь несколько снимков, на которых можно много чего рассмотреть. Здесь мы даже видим наполовину разрушенные старые фрески, элементы декора и отделки. Реставраторам придётся ещё очень много потрудиться, чтобы и остальная часть дворца приобрела прежний величественный вид.
