When you submit a new post, you have the option to Power Up for 100% or choose to Power Up for 50% and put 50% into Steem.
Before understanding this article, make sure you know the differences between Steem, Steemit Dollars (SBD) and Power Up. Read this article to get a full explanation: https://steemit.com/steem/@adil/why-you-should-choose-power-up-100-instead-of-default-50-50-posts from or https://steemit.com/steemit/@flurgx/discrepancy-about-steemit-authors-payout-question-need-your-help from
Basically it is very simple.
- #Steem is a currency which can be easily traded on short term to actual fiat money or Bitcoins.
- #PowerUp is transferring your Steem to add more power to you as Steemit user, increasing your voting power, curating earnings and more.
- #SteemitDollars (SBD) are price stable currency with a value of $1 USD.
So, if you want to go long-term, I would always advice you to choose to PowerUp 100%. Otherwise, you'll get paid 50/50% and you'll have to manually transfer Steem into #SteemPower which will also take up 3,5 days.
EDIT: I stand corrected, thank you &
. It depends what you choose on the value of SBD to Steem. As long as the Steem price is above 1$, it is not recommended to Power Up 100%.
Another good thing to keep in mind:
The value of Steem can fluctuate, which means you can also choose to keep Steemit Dollars or Steemit depending on the current value and your expected future value (increase / decrease).
If anyone has a good advice which adds to this blog, please feel free to share, resteem and upvote.

PS. No, you cannot change 100% to 50/50% or the other way around when you have already submitted your post.
