One of the most picturesque bridge in the old town of Prague. Its more spectacular during sunrise and sunset. The statues on the Bridge add to its glory. It's the top tourists flocking place, therefore always overcrowded. There is also a tower standing on each end of the bridge. The view of the city, from the Charles Bridge is amazing. Not to be missed when in Prague.
Charles Bridge is a great spot for pictures and strolling day or night. At night you can see an amazing sunset, and during the day the bridge has lots of vendors and other interesting sights.
Remember to visit the St. John of Nepomuk statue and rub the plaque of the woman (NOT the dog) with your LEFT hand for good luck. Every tour guide I had in Prague warned against rubbing the dog or using your right hand, but every time I walked by I saw people doing just that. I don't really believe you'd get bad luck, but as the saying goes "when in Rome..."
One of the most lovely places in all Prague, this place is full of street artists trying to do all stuffs! Dancing, singing, playing music, drawing, painting, and so much more! The tourists are everywhere so it might be a little bit noisy, I suggest to come early in the morning to enjoy some cool air. The view is very good and if you enjoy reading up the history of the bridge, you can see the significance of it and in my opinion, it will make you enjoy more of the bridge itself.
This bridge lives up to the hype. We visited because it makes all of the Prague "must see" lists. We enjoyed the sweeping views, statues, street musicians, and vendors along the bridge.
We visited on a Thursday and it was crowded but maneuverable. Definitely leave enough time to explore and touch the statues for luck, wealth, and more.
The views and statues are fascinating. Make sure to let the dog on the plaque at the base of one of them! It's extremely busy in the daytime, don't expect scenes from the peaceful, empty photos often posted online. There's usually a good atmosphere, and sometimes live bands & performers. Well worth a visit. Perhaps also worth a late night/early morning visit.
It's an iconic bridge with a great story. It's one of the few places that I don't mind the things of tourists. The views are incredible, the statues are very nice (they are copies of the originals) and the street musicians are mostly very good. I go out of my way to cross the river there any time I get the chance.
