Privacy protection starts with all of us and in an narrow view on this, everyone that doesn't care much about it makes it harder for everybody else.
Wuuut?
Yes, so every time all of us accept the fact that we are constantly tracked and all of our data in handed around against hard cash in the name of commerce and progressing targeted advertisements, it becomes a little harder for those who want to see their data protected.
Not even stressing the fact that besides these tracking/collection things there are of course monstrous data breaches every year that compromise our data that is stored with all kinds of online businesses, government sites, healthcare institutions and so on with no harsh consequences for those in charge.
Now Amazon will up the stakes in this regard by equipping their "Ring" surveillance camera doorbells with facial recognition features that will send alarms when suspicious faces are detected by Ring doorbell cameras around the world!
So... is this an privacy issue you might ask?
For one it seems to be an great idea to use this kind of intelligence to maybe prevent more thefts and break ins.
On the other hand the tech that comes to use here isn't perfect and it might happen that faces of innocent's trigger alarms.
What also is a part of this is a sharing of triggered alarms and videos/pics with "home" (Amazon) who will have the biggest commercial video surveillance network in place possibly putting even China to shame soon!
Jeez... Minority Report by Philip K.Dick becomes reality quite fast it seems!
Maybe soon they'll find behavioural patterns to detect crimes before they happen! Then we would have gone full circle in terms of Dick's "Minority Report" and "Pre-Crime".

Wow! So what do you think? Nice tech to fight crime or a really bad idea?
Let me know down in the comments please!
Cheers!
