In today's age, where social interaction online is heavily influenced by abstract ideas like "likes", "thumbs up", "retweets", there is a social pressure to share a likeable take on any situation, this leads to people sometimes being unable to share how they truly feel about something because of a(in my opinion irrational but understandable) fear of being ostracized for not having the popular opinion. However, this pressure is nonexistent in an anonymous context where people can share information that the status quo may oppose and ridicule the individual if they posted it with their screenname. Anonymity is valuable because you have access to the often hidden underbelly of ideas. I myself find value in these ideas/opinions in their uniqueness and often their sincerity because i can often rationalize why this specific opinion was chosen to be given anonymously rather than on a mainstream media account.
