I want to write on a different topic, the day that I remember for a lifetime. I have at least a few days that are acutely remembered to me and they still come to my mind in detail when I think about it. It was the longest night for me and the shortest morning. Why so, you will understand in the course of my story.
My wife and daughter lived in an ordinary block in the hostel of the institute. The block consisted of two rooms and one bathroom. One room was occupied by us, and the second one was occupied by our colleagues students Alexey and Igor. On that day, the guys went home for the weekend. And I had to meet my wife and 4-year-old daughter, who were returning from their parents. The train arrived at 4:50 in the morning.
I was preparing to meet them, but in the evening I began to have pain in the appendix. I already had a bitter experience - about 6 years ago, in the army experienced a severe attack of acute appendicitis, but then before the operation did not come. It happened that I was applied a hot-water bottle with ice. And in the morning I felt better. At that time, I was just in the hospital.
This time the attack began sharply and from early evening I was in great pain. At the same time did not think to call an ambulance. It so happened that all my friends had left and met a wife with a little daughter and her luggage no one could. The option for me was one, to meet them myself.
Being in such an unhealthy state, I thought only of meeting her and then solving my problems with appendicitis, which inflamed this time even more than the first time. I set the alarm at 3 o'clock in the morning. But from a terrible pain and could not fall asleep experiencing severe pain.
From the hostel to the railway station was about 5 km approximately. Given that at that time the transport did not go, I went on foot to the station. On the way, everything got worse and worse. I myself repeated the saying that our wrestler loved to say: "The wrestler does not hurt, the fighter is nice" He said it many times, but this pain strangely did not go away)).
Time dragged slowly, it felt like the longest night of my life, I thought it would never end. The pains became so unbearable that I started going to the station to moan. Several times I fell and crawled, rose and fell. This is certainly a nightmare for the sensations and the fact that I had to go through this, of course, because of my youth and my stupidity. It was necessary to call an ambulance. But I thought at that time about my beloved wife and little daughter, how they would get to the hostel with things and gifts from their parents. There was certainly an element of courage in this, but at that moment I did not understand that the stupidity of that situation and the risk to bring myself to the extreme state and the threat of loss of life would not justify anything. I write about my situation as it is without embellishing. Silly and extremely risky, I behaved then, I write as I am.
When I approached the station, I saw a train approaching to the platform. I was happy, the circumstance that I still met my wife and daughter. I went into the car, saw them and just lay down on the shelf, I could not stand in pain anymore. My wife, when she saw me, was frightened, I was pale as death. Still, I never groaned at my daughter, restraining myself from the last forces, so as not to frighten her. My wife on the platform found a taxi driver who helped us to load her baggage and brought us to the hostel. I asked my wife to take the daughter to the room. He himself lay down on the couch in the hall of the hostel. After the wife took her little daughter, I could not hold back any more and began to moan, very loudly.
Vakhtersha called an ambulance. The ambulance drove for 40 minutes, the time dragged on and it seemed that she would never come. But my adventures still had to last for several hours, until they operated on me. The ambulance came not soon, but it was good that she came and took me to the hospital. In which I was laid on the couch in the waiting room, I could not hold back any more and shouted with might and main, who experienced such acute attacks of inflamed appendicitis. I think I will be well understood.
In this room, on the next couch lay some drunken peasant, or perhaps not drunk, but under a dose. I shouted so loudly that he woke up and looked at me with his eyes wide open, without telling me anything. In the waiting room I waited another 40 minutes.
Then the nurse came for me and said: "Get up to the operating room." And through the whole territory of the hospital we walked - he was in front with his head held high, and I was almost half bent behind. Having reached the operating room, I saw on the porch of a smoking doctor in a special form, a surgeon.
He asked me: "What do you have?". I replied: "A sharp attack of appendicitis," he said: "How can you know for sure that this is appendicitis?". Not arguing with him, I did not have the strength, I went in front of the operating room and I was put on a couch on wheels. After talking with them and hearing that they will operate on me, after I was examined by a doctor, I just fell asleep without any anesthesia. The morning for me that day was the shortest. And the night, as I already wrote unbearably long.
I woke up after the operation and anesthesia somewhere by the clock 15 or even later. He was in the ward, where there were 12 beds. As soon as I woke up, the nurse reported the situation to the young doctor. He came to the ward and said that he assisted the surgeon when I was operated. He said that I was born in a shirt, and that when I was cut, they saw my inflamed appendix, of an unprecedentedly large size, that he could just burst, and in this case, everything could end bad for me. I also learned from him that at first I had been operated on by a young woman with a knife wound, and only then me.
I will not describe the details of how I was lying in this hospital, about how I was discharged. As they say, it's good that everything went well and I was still alive. If you believe this young doctor, then I had a big risk with rupture of the appendix, just do not get to the doctors and, having got to them, it was much more difficult to save me. At that time I was still thinking that the Almighty God saved me for some important things. I often remember that incident and I think it's good that everything turned out okay.
I wrote about this story, so that someone does not repeat my mistakes. It is clear that the situation on the one hand is the most stupid, on the other hand at that time I acted exactly as I did. I had to meet my wife and daughter and, despite everything, I did it. This was the most memorable day in my life, the longest night and the shortest morning.
