Tick tock tick tock...
At 11:00am on Saturday 3rd February 2018, the count down to the much-awaited meet-up began. This meet-up, dubbed The Steemit Guest party was scheduled to take place at 11:30am prompt. This is the rundown of events from my viewpoint:
COMMENCEMENT.
At exactly 11:30am, the SGP commenced. as our appointed host of the day, did a marvelous job. We called upon
to lead us in prayer. After the prayer, our host introduced the organizers of the event, and some team leaders.
The introductory session then began. We were called upon to introduce ourselves, stating first, our real name, username, our place of residence, then the person who introduced us to Steemit. My surprise knew no bounds when I learned that some people lived a few kilometers from my place of residence!
This introductory session was crucial, as it provided an avenue for us to put faces to the names we've been seeing on our WhatsApp group page. By acquainting ourselves, it became easier to interact and mingle.
SPEAKERS' ADDRESS.
was our first speaker. On explaining the concept of Steemit, he gave us a deep level of understanding of what Steemit is and its purpose. Interestingly, he had to travel over 6 hours to join us for the meet up. This unparalleled show of commitment demonstrated how I can impact positively on the Steemit community by sharing my newfound knowledge with others.
was the next speaker. He eloquently demonstrated his expert knowledge on cryptocurrency, Steem, SBD and steem power by breaking things down to the tinniest detail for those of us who knew little about cryptocurrency.
Last but not least was , who educated us on what to do with the money we earn on Steemit. Until the meet-up, I was all about withdrawing my earnings. However, his speech emphasized the importance of investing the monies generated back into Steemit. This is a timely eye-opener as it has shown me a new way to promote the growth of the Steemit community.
QUESTIONS?
Then came question time. It was amazing to see people ask questions I had not really thought of—which I needed answers to. Question after question, the grey fog that obscured my view of Steemit cleared.
WINE AND DINE.
We ate and socialized.
THE SURPRISE.
Internet data is a very expensive commodity in Ghana. It was therefore surprising to hear that a member was giving every attendee a SIM card. The package was complete with a six-month long auto renewal! Thank you .
GUESTS.
All guests who were in attendance had the privilege of hearing about Steemit from experienced members who have a solid grasp of the concept of Steemit.
To wrap it up, the first SGP organized by #steemit Ashanti, a subset of #teamghana was successful. We've sown Steemit seeds unto the hearts of interested guests. We're hoping they'll join this fast growing community and lift its name higher.
The name is akosua. Lots of love from #teamghana.
