Steem inflation, ideally, should be used to onboard new users, that in exchange would increase awareness/price of Steem. I see a lot of big whales looking for things to curate. I urge them to not only look inward but also outward. Both are needed.
We can use the diehards we have here on Steem, upvote them for bringing new Steem users in, or spreading awareness which has the same indirect outcome of onboarding.
This is my whale call, please, look at the #promo-steem tag & “introduceyourself” tags, let's put Steem in the hands of new users, but also the Steemians currently bringing in value for us.
Example: I want to run a Hong Kong contest next. People write about Hong Kong and share on Twitter and tell people to share their stories, immutably, on the Steem blockchain.
This type of marketing just makes sense, and we are not too mighty to go after the long hanging fruits of marketing. We have a badass product, we have a means to incentive onboarding, what in the hell are we waiting for?
Whatever the hot topic of the week is, Steemians should be all over it with correctly tagged content and sharing on outside socials; it’s the bread and butter of going viral!
I believe it is up to us large stakeholders to guide content creators in the right direction for the overall ecosystem. SMTs will mostly be what rewards OG content creators, Steem will mostly be used to onboard new users & to continue to decentralize our DPOS governance.
Content creators here just lack a little direction, I see them trying their best, but we can push the rewards to content that helps make Steem go viral, and it'll happen. Just check the “YANGGANG” tag here, before 3 days ago there was 4 post, and one wasn't even about Yang.
I am pro Steem reward pool inflation because I have a dream, a dream to onboard the masses. I am also aware it is time to put up or shut up.
But, when I see shit like this, it shows me that we are not making great use of the inflation. This person took a year off Steem, just to login and see nothing that is trending on the outside world is trending on Steem. And, this user will probably log on in another year, if Steem is lucky, and what will he find then?
I am just one whale, but with support, we can really make some change! I am looking to powerup more into my Dan account to double my onboarding efforts.
OCDB is in on the effort, YooDoo crew is up for it, Threespeak is up for it, who else wants to help coordinate an effort to shoot Steem to the moon?
Blueprint: Create relative content to trending topics that benefit both parties involved. IE: “YANGGANG” helps Andrew Yang because he is being censored, and he wants to join a platform like Steem if you listen to him talk.
This also helps Steem, as it is a trojan horse way to advertise. We are supporting Yang while simultaneously driving people to front ends like Steemit, Steempeak.
Same with what’s going on in Hong Kong, they are being censored, we can make content about Hong Kong, people who have stories/info to share who are in HK. We are helping spread the word about HK while getting exposure from outside socials to Steem front ends & the incredible use case of the Steem blockchain.
^ Content creators, when making relevant content, always use the most relevant tag first, and add promo-steem as the last tag. Example: Put “yanggang” tag first, then any other relevant tags, like “letyangspeak” – and very last put #promo-steem – so we can locate your work more easily.
I will support quality onboarding initiates tagged with #promo-steem tag. Reach out anytime if you have any ideas for an onboarding contest, initiative or plan. Cheers!
