Since we are Steem The North "" we feel it's only natural for us to tell you about ourselves because in this case if we don't blow our proverbial trumpet, then no one will and I am pretty sure this one is justified and this year we will be hosting the SIN2. For those that may be wondering what that means, it is STEEMIT IN NIGERIA 2 and we are so delighted about that as we will not want you to get lost so we shall attempt to tell you a little about the city, the climate, the people and where to find what. Just sit back relax and we are your chauffeur for today.
Let's begin with the Long and boring stuff.
Coordinates: 9°4′N 7°29′E
According to the United Nations, Abuja grew by 139.7% between 2000 and 2010, making it the fastest growing city in the world. As of 2015, the city is experiencing an annual growth of at least 35%, retaining its position as the fastest-growing city on the African continent and one of the fastest-growing in the world. As of 2016, the metropolitan area of Abuja is estimated at six million persons, placing it behind only Lagos, as the most populous metro area in Nigeria.
Major religious sites include the Nigerian National Mosque and the Nigerian National Christian Centre. The city is served by the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport. Abuja is known for being one of the few purpose-built capital cities in Africa, as well as being one of the wealthiest.
Abuja, Nigeria's administrative and political centere is also a key capital on the African continent due to Nigeria's geopolitical influence in regional affairs. Abuja is also a conference centered that hosts various meetings annually, such as the 2003 Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting and the 2014 World Economic Forum (Africa) meetings
Those are the official stuff so how do you get around the city?
The normal guy will come by bus and the likely drop point will be Jabi park, that is even on the google map so it shouldn't be that hard to figure out. And if you are coming by air, I think that has been settled by the official stuff up there. Another likely drop point is either Giri junction or zuba.
Abuja is really stratified financially, the big guys stay in the heart of town so also are the hotels, the sheratons, hiltons and all the star studded hotels and if you are headed that way then from any of these drop points taking a cab there won't be an issue because they are easy to locate.
But let me talk about the average Joes spot, Gwarimpa, Kubwa, Lugbe, Karu and the likes are not far from the heart of town and still have affordable accommodations for the average guy. So if you are in town and you want the normal hotels, good rooms and all and relatively affordable then visit those places.
But if you are the Street and you want something street but maybe fairly good then you'd head to the suburbs, the gwaggwaladas, nyanya, dutse, mpape and the likes. Trust me they are all on google map so spotting them won't be hard either.
Same applies for the flexing zones, that was why I was like the city is stratified financially, wherever you go, the people around determine the price of flexing, you can get good entertainment and night life even in the suburbs.
To be sincere, security is sound to the best of my knowledge, I had been to other cities and seen the worst maybe that is why I regard Abuja that high. I'm sure you won't be very disappointed if you are from other parts of Nigeria.
The people are quite warm and receptive, typical Nigerian style but thwy have very little time on their hands as they are all in a haste either running to catch up with something or so something will not catch up with them.
Dont ask me what..
Abuja has it indegenes who are the Gbagyis but the city is flooded with peolw from every part of Nigeria and it is fairly neutral for everybody to cope without much problems.
The climate and whether is the typical north weather, extremely hot in the day and cool at night....you will cope I bet.
So we are looking forward to having you one of these days and if you are ever in town and wants to hang out with someone from steemit...then will help with that.
You can get in touch with any of the team members of and we'd hook you up....👌
