Yesterday was such a remarkable day for #steemtennis where i officiated the schoool's open competitions specifically the lawn tennis sport. This event took place at St. Mary's college Namagunga.
I attended and officiated this event with my steemit identity portrayed on my steemit t-shirt. Many liked my t-shirt and kept on asking what steemit was all about. I explained and encouraged them to go ahead check it out for more details on the website #steemit.com and make their personal informed decision to join us here.
Building something great through tennis backed up by steemit. I strongly believe that this parternership branded #steemtennis is the solution to the many problems faced by this nation Uganda and a case in point is poverty that has greatly led to her ackward identity of being a low developed country for a long time.
Through #steemtennis many lives are going to be impacted as evidenced in the photos below. Smiles of hope are being created through the love and care of the entire steemit community.
Here i was with the makerere university tennis players, Namilyango college and those of St.Mary's college kisubi.
I plan to develop tennis in Uganda using steem as a way of giving back to community which in turn is going to impact many lives of people as they also make up a bold decision to join steemit for the betterment of their lives.
Many have tried and still trying to develop this game of lawn tennis in Uganda such as tennis for all Uganda check it out here and lets play tennis project check it out here
Here are some great past headlines concerning tennis in Uganda.
Uganda will soon host international events after Uganda Lawn Tennis Association (ULTA) has been readmitted back into the International Tennis Federation (ITF) family.
The local body lost the affiliation status to the world body four years ago after accumulating debts worth $26000 (Shs93m) over eight years. Realising they were losing out, ULTA started the ‘Goal #3’ project in January to assist mobilise funds to clear arrears with the world body.
Last week, the tennis fraternity was in a jovial mood as ULTA announced clearance of the debt with ITF to over 75 per cent.
“We are grateful with the progress and here announce the re-admission to ITF and continental body,” ULTA boss Cedric Babu said. “By 2017, we hope to be part of the wider family again.”
Of that, Goal #3 task force led by James Kasumba solicited Shs21m through contributions pledges from members. Also, ULTA got a combined Shs53m boost from Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC) and National Council of Sports (NCS).
“We are happy that our members are re-admitted to ITF. As UOC, we have supported Duncan Mugabe. Next year, we want to have an ITF technical course,” UOC President William Blick said. “We also intend to send Cedric to London to negotiate on behalf of the federation for Uganda to benefit fully as an ITF member. Olympics, Commonwealth and Islamic Games also target to have tennis players,” Blick added.
National Council of Sports (NCS) will give ULTA another $6000 (Shs21m) before July 31, 2017 as they move to complete the ITF debt. “We are going to work with UOC and NCS to fit within their budgets. We shall have activities to raise money,” Babu said.
Ever since losing touch with ITF, the plight of the sport had been much evident as ULTA lost rights to host an ITF Future and junior events as well as partaking in the Hopman and Davis Cup tournaments. But now, ULTA can host these events, according to Babu.

This implifies that tennis in Uganda is a very great platform that can be used to promote steemit which can along the way be recognised by the whole world through the international tennis federation.
Back to yesterdays event. My girls won the competition after beating the makerere university students, secured the first place with makerere university emerging as the second. These were excited and overwhelmed by their victory.
Lawn Tennis is my hobby and its the one through which i have earned from one scholarship to another. In other words what i am today is because my tennis talent has contributed a great deal to it. Many times people neglect sports and all they do is only keep focused on academics and go ahead as well to discourage others about how there is no future in sports which act is so common and very sad in low developed countries.
Work without play makes jack a dull boy.
People forget such a quote which is very true. Therefore sports are a very important aspect of life and very beneficial not only to the health bit of someone but also the financial, social and other aspects of an individual's life.
Thanks so much for reading and supporting. Lets build something great together.
You can as well connect with me directly on discord #yohan2on
