It's HOT!!!
Seed Starting Time For #GroVid22
Today, I took some tea pots and boiled water. I had my daughter filling the pots, and bringing the water down to me. From there, I added the boiling water to the soil, to kill spores and mold, or any fungus gnat eggs:
I thoroughly mix the water and soil, to make sure there are no dry areas. The seeds cannot dry out when planted, or they will simply NOT germinate.
After that, it's a matter of scooping the moistened soil into the trays and into their cells. For my Onion Planting, I will use the 4 inch squares (10 cm). For my Pepper seeds and seedlings, I will use the 2 inch (5 cm) squares.
As you see in the very first image, the seedling trays are on shelves, with a heat mat underneath each tray. The basement here is too cold for warm weather crops, so, I need to germinate at about 70-85º F degrees. (21ºC to 29º C)
In the coming days, MANY more images will come fast and furious, as the planting begins in EARNEST. Meanwhile, LET'S TRY the #GROVID22 Challenge: Write NOW! Enter Thursday!

Always, I strive to give back
To the animals and birds around me
to put more plants in than I take out
And be a good steward for the world around me!
