The last Weekly Zekely a month ago so now is as good a time as any to share some boring white guy adventures! I know sometimes fewer words and more images is preferred so I will keep it brief and fill in the desired details in comments.
Last Time on Your Zekely
The beginning of February was about as wintery as you can get with both the snow and the very low temperatures. Winter is presently faking us out on a retreat but we are doomed for the yearly surprise return at least once before March ends.
It still is wintery enough for me at present with milder days with a few more minutes of sunlight each day. The snow is melting nicely now and temperatures forecasted to reach 17 Celsius / 63 Freedom Units may be the end of it all!
Not quite ready to give up on all of winter, I went to the big city to play our last outdoor game of hockey. Beautiful night at -5c and they let us play under the lights an extra hour as it was the last game of the year. Kinda looks like the Thunder Dome or a fighting cage!
Nothing like a nice cold beer after the game with the guys. Worked up enough of a sweat to comfortably change outside and hang around for a pint.
Jiu Jitsu
I have trained only once per week the last few weeks but looking to double and triple that if I can find the time/get rid of the excuses.
It is hard for me to imagine a more perfect part of a fitness routine as it mixes mindfulness, survival skills, confidence and humility wrapped up in a highly social culture at the gym. Hopefully more of that in the next Zekely.
Music
I see/hear stories of other parents bringing their kids to concerts to develop a love for live music. Then, I think I have missed out on doing that despite helping them grow up performing live music, So, I snagged tickets to a 30-year anniversary concert from a band I saw back in the day. Feels like too little too late but I prefer to see it as now is the best time to start.
Comedy!
My company partners with a live performance cafe to promote arts and entertainment in our downtown core. Seems I don't attend enough of the fun stuff so I decided to attend a comedy show this past weekend. Kinda low light for a proper picture but a super fun night full of laughs.
Beer
As the #blockchainbeerologist, It is almost my duty to see how many tales I can weave with Beer involved. Here, we enjoy a couple Birdy Juice pints while sharing some indoor golf with a great friend and his dad.
Here, we are trying out the new carbonating system at our brewery. Graduating from gassing up the kegs with 35psi and shaking the shit out of it, we are now learning how to perfectly carbonate our beer with a little trial and error. Plenty of #beersaturday posts in the next while to report how we do.
The aforementioned trip to the big city wouldn't be complete without a visit to my favourite brewery Great Lakes Brewery. So great to stop in at the old stomping grounds and pick up an 8 pack of the freshest, only available in taproom brews for the fridge at home.
I have one last beer tale for you. We stopped into a new bar/bottle shop in town after a hockey game to sample and shop for home. While there, the proprietor must have detected our nerdiness because he invited us to join them in a little shut in where a big group of friends were gathering for some network gaming. I need a keyboard/mouse to FPS game so I wasn't very good in Call of Duty on the Xbox but killed a few and enjoyed it all the same.
Bring on SPRING!
The sun may have set on another Zekely but fear not, I will be back in a month or less with a whole new slew of silly stuff.
